Job Description​

The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) is responsible for assuring all research involving human subjects is conducted in compliance with applicable federal regulations and relevant ethical standards and research policies of Saint Luke’s Health System (SLHS), regardless of funding source. The HRPP Analyst II works closely with the HRPP staff and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Chair (s) to ensure proper review and oversight of human research activities. The HRPP Analyst II must be familiar with the substantial body of federal regulations governing activities involving human subjects (45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 56, and others as required) and be able to apply the regulations and SLHS IRB polices accurately and timely to facilitate research. The HRPP Analyst II has extensive knowledge of the operational functions of an IRB and is expected to develop a comprehensive knowledge of SLHS IRB Standard Operating Procedures. A strong expertise in building relationships with researchers and members of the protocol management team as well as various stakeholders to build consensus and navigate the research culture to effect change.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biomedical, health science, ethics, social sciences, or related field plus 1-2 years of prior experience in an IRB office, OR HS diploma/GED plus 2-4 years of prior experience in an IRB office.

• Working knowledge of the complex federal regulations and guidelines that govern the conduct of research involving human subjects, including 45 CFR 46 and 21 CFR 50, 56, 312, 812, and HIPAA.

• Well organized, high energy, effective at multi-tasking, and self-motivated.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Knowledge of basic information systems (Word, Excel, Adobe, and other database applications)

• Experience working with sensitive and/or confidential information, including implementing safeguards for protection of sensitive electronic information.

• Demonstrated success working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams of external and internal individuals.

• Demonstrated analytical skills to gather, interpret, organize, and present compliance related data.

• Ability to become a “super user” of IRB submission system to teach others and perform first-line troubleshooting.
