The main role of the Technical Writer is to support the development, maintenance, and distribution of NAV CANADA’s operational communication and publications used nationwide. They will assist in the production of Air Traffic Services operational manuals and other publications in consultation with stakeholders.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

  • Write and review content for a variety of audiences while adhering to well-defined design specifications and writing standards.
  • Edit content using a variety of documentation and publishing software, techniques and methodologies to support the development of high-quality, internal communications and technical documentation for Operational staff.
  • Prepare, submit, receive and manage content for translation and incorporate into operational publications to ensure alignment between English and French content.
  • Apply quality assurance/control standards and processes to produce and publish accurate and consistent information products.
  • Use document management systems to maintain repository of source files and version control.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • College certificate in technical writing or related field of study

Experience:

  • One year of related work experience.
  • Experience authoring in XML

Knowledge:

  • Office 365
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Document Management Systems (SharePoint)
  • Information development methodologies and standards
  • Research skills

Abilities:

  • Support colleagues to implement stakeholder requirements and suggest opportunities for product enhancements and process improvements
  • Learn new software, follow processes, and adhere to standards
  • Manage multiple concurrent tasks and adapt to changing priorities
  • Work with minimal supervision both in a team and independently
  • Establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Work effectively with a remote team
