What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for Education Branch Program Analyst to provide support for the intramural training program at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) of the National Institutes of Health. The contractor will apply their skills and expertise as a key contributor to the intramural training team, within the NCATS Education Branch. The contractor will work closely with the Intramural Translational Training Director and the Director of the Education Branch and will serve the needs of our intramural trainees and mentors.  This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Rockville, MD.  

  • Collaborate closely with NCATS scientific and administrative staff on all needed activities related to the NCATS 2025 Summer Internship Program (June- August 2025). Process applications and onboarding materials for the 2025 cohort, plan internship program content to include professional and scientific development opportunities and cohort social engagements, provide leadership for NCATS Summer Internship Program poster day and engagement of NCATS summer interns in NIH poster day.
  • Represent NCATS at a minimum of one national conference, which focused on underrepresented populations in the sciences. Engage in outreach to local institutions of higher education to raise the profile of translational science and NCATS as well as recruit a diverse and highly qualified trainee population.
  • Collaborate closely with NCATS scientific and administrative staff on all needed activities related to the NCATS-NCI Shady Grove Intramural Training Retreat (September 2024). Key tasks include coordinating/ planning meetings with NCATS and NCI Shady Grove training offices and NCATS and NCI trainees, preparing meeting minutes, extending invitations to speakers, promoting the event to NCI and NCATS trainees, preparing the event agenda, communicating audio-visual needs to IT support, and attend the retreat in-person to support the day’s logistics.
  • Collaborate with NCATS staff to plan, develop, market, implement, evaluate, and enhance professional development, scientific development, and career exploration activities that serve the unique needs of NCATS trainees for summer interns and year-round fellows across all training stages from undergraduate interns through postdoctoral fellows.
  • Prepare promotional materials for meeting exhibits and presentations, special events and other events.
  • In collaboration with NCATS staff, identify and implement additional strategies and approaches to recruit highly qualified underrepresented minorities to the NCATS intramural training program.
  • Act as mentor and/or advocate to fellows at NCATS and elsewhere pursuing training and careers in translational science. Individually mentor students regarding scientific study, individual training, and career development programming.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least one (1) year of event coordination, program, development or recruiting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office
