Reporting to the Senior Manager, Service Delivery, the Home Assessing Manager is a newly created role within the Claims Management Team.  

 

The Home Assessing Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and maintaining the delivery of cost-effective home assessing services that achieve high-quality outcomes for our members. The role also ensures that repairs are authorised and completed in accordance with relevant building code specifications and legislative requirements. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure compliance with Insurance Code of Practice, Building Code specifications, and legislative requirements. 

  • Address escalated member complaints and ensure compliance with relevant policies.

  • Oversee external loss adjusters and lead event response planning.

  • Direct risk management initiatives to meet OHS and corporate governance requirements. 

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to the Home Assessing team. 

  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency. 

  • Develop strategies to control home claims repair costs and manage the budget. 

  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal/external stakeholders. 

 

What we are looking for: 

  • Trade qualification with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience. 

  • Experience in site supervision, estimating, and project management. 

  • Strong understanding of construction industry trends and building code specifications. 

  • Knowledge of insurance legislation such as the Insurance Contracts Act and Insurance Code of Practice . 

  • Expertise in managing operational budgets and business unit planning. 

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills. 

  • Strong operational management and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Ability to coach and develop staff professionally. 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex processes. 

  • Diploma of Loss Adjusting (desirable). 

  • Insurance qualifications to Senior Associate level or similar (desirable).
