Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Market Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director, Financial Services is responsible for Financial Reporting operations including monthly, quarterly and year end processes, and works closely with the CFO on all aspects of the financial operations of the facility, providing support for strategic planning, financial oversight, and financial leadership. The Director, Financial Services will act as a key resource to assess the financial condition of the hospital and enable the successful attainment of the hospital's operational and strategic goals and initiatives in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Director, Financial Services, will be responsible for providing overall planning and objectives for the Graduate Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education, and Medical Staff Office leadership teams, while monitoring financial performance.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of financial analysts. These activities include preparation, analysis and presentation of financial information for economic justifications, pricing studies and service line reporting. Operating Budget preparation and variance analysis for the hospital. Reports to the Market Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Functions: Director, Financial Services
Direct activities of departmental personnel in developing economic justifications associated with new programs and equipment purchases.
Direct and prepare annual operating budget for the hospital.
Direct monthly variance analysis of financial and statistical data comparing actual to budgeted information.
Interview, hire and evaluate employee performance. Follow action plan including rounding to provide for high employee satisfaction.
Maintain the highest quality of the 10 standards, dignity, comfort, information, response, confidentiality, teamwork, courtesy, directions, image and introductions.
Provide support as a financial liaison to department managers and service line chairs. Prepare and present information for service line committees as required.
Prepare monthly close analysis for revenues and expenses for presentation at the Board level.
Attend educational seminars and classes to enhance current information or systems.
Qualifications - Director, Financial Services
Required
Required Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
Preferred Master's Degree.
3 years of relevant experience 3+ years managing finance functions in a healthcare setting. Required.
Healthcare experience Required.
Previous supervisory experience of three years.
Preferred:
Experience with financial management of GME (Graduate Medical Education) programs preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - State of Michigan or Management Accountant, Certified preferred.
