About this role

Part of the U.S. Tax organization, the U.S. Direct tax team is responsible for income tax compliance and planning relative to Dow’s U.S. entities. The team ensures accurate tax filings and compliance with Dow’s internal policies and procedures.

The selected employee will partner across Dow to ensure compliance with all U.S. income tax requirements.  Additionally, the role engages on planning projects and provides support across Dow’s Global Tax Organization.  The role provides support for technology initiatives and will be responsible for driving efficiencies in all assigned processes.  Additionally, they will work closely with various cross-functional teams to ensure necessary due diligence activities are completed and proper transaction analysis has been performed where relevant.


Responsibilities – Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

  • Review and ensure the accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local tax returns and other business-related filings.
  • Partner with the Tax Data Management and Technology team to implement tax processes and automation improvements.
  • Manage tax compliance for fixed assets for all regional legal entities.
  • Monitor, develop, and analyze Tax legislation proposals and their impact on Dow companies.
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
  • Demonstrate technical Tax Accounting capabilities.
  • Review and monitor events/transactions which could impact quality of data-and when necessary, takes immediate action to influence work and accounting practices.
  • Work with business and functional leaders to analyze and recommend valuable after-tax planning opportunities.
  • Provide support to the Controversy team with federal and state income tax audit requests.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in partnership with the team.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 6+ years of U.S. Income Tax experience
  • Exemplary people and communications skills coupled with the savvy and maturity needed to garner the respect of senior management and internal clients
  • Positive, self-starter, adaptable, detail-oriented, strategic thinker
  • Ability to manage complex projects and issues, to anticipate, negotiate and manage conflicts, problems, changes and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
