Position Summary

The Operations & Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus.

We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 11.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world’s highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management.

Furthermore, as the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors.

Position programs for both the access control system and stand-alone locks for all WUSM buildings. Works with WUSM departments, BJH Access Control, and other associated entities to solve access control and ID issues. Serves as the main interaction with Facilities Integrated Service Center (FISC) personnel who distribute the ID badges to faculty, staff, and students. Troubleshoots system issues; creates ID badges and enters and updates databases as necessary. Audits card records and access levels. Coordinates with departments to ensure employees have the correct access level. Serves as a quality control liaison.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Programs, maintains, and troubleshoots security systems installed throughout the WUSM Campus and interacts with the hospital and Danforth Campus partners.
  • Works with individual departments’ leadership teams to establish and activate ID badges with the proper access levels and time zones.
  • Monitors security department practices, situations, and indicators to identify issues and opportunities to introduce security systems technology as a way to improve the overall level of service provided by the Protective Services Department.
  • Partners with BJH Access Control and other entities to solve access control issues.
  • Performs changes to systems in programming for holidays, special events, campus closures, etc.
  • Audits all cardholder records.
  • Audits access levels by corresponding with department liaisons to verify the cardholder has the correct access level. 
  • Ability to move around campus as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$17.87 - $27.06 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
