The Senior Lead Counsel I is a senior level position responsible for providing legal guidance and thought leadership to the business. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice, and guidance to the business.

The attorney in this role will provide legal support to the U.S. Branded Cards & Lending business, which is comprised of the proprietary and co-brand credit cards, and unsecured lending businesses of Citigroup. This attorney will be part of a legal team working with business management on negotiating and documenting credit card, rewards, and other agreements; product development and implementation; acquisition and marketing offers; the solicitation, origination and maintenance of consumer and small business credit card accounts; regulatory monitoring and implementation; and the ongoing support of the business in its partner and vendor relationships. This attorney will provide direct Legal support for one of Citi's significant co-branded credit card relationship and other credit card portfolios. Transactions experience, including support of finance and risk functions, is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services
  • Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations
  • Knowledge of consumer laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
  • Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
  • Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Bar license in good standing to practice law

  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$186,640.00 - $279,960.00
