About your team: 

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

We are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Risk Manager to join our fantastic team within GBS at Centrica. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing expert guidance to senior management on risk-related matters.

As a key member of the Procurement Risk & Governance team, you will support the Procurement function within Centrica by identifying and managing both functional and operational risk elements, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will provide assurance on compliance with policies and standards, identify appropriate mitigations, and implement ongoing evidenced controls.

The Day to Day –

  • Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures to identify, assess, and mitigate risks within the procurement, supply chain, fleet, and property functions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to senior management on risk-related issues and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management strategies and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely and accurate reporting of compliance-related matters.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance risk awareness and regulatory compliance within the organisation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Be the key contact for the Procurement team to provide expertise and best practices on risk management.
  • Network in the external market to understand how leading peer organisations approach risks in the Procurement area and how best practices could be implemented across Centrica.
  • Drive the maturity of risk cultures within the Procurement function.
  • Handle UK FCA/PRA reporting across all third-party oversight requirements.

About You –

  • Knowledge of risk appetite, policies, and processes to identify, measure, manage, monitor, and report risks.
  • Awareness and understanding of the economic and market environment in which the organisation operates.
  • Understanding of business plans, strategy, and operating models.
  • Ability to interpret financial information and implement appropriate controls.
  • Ability to assess and oversee the effectiveness of governance and control arrangements.
  • Awareness of the regulatory framework and high-level requirements relevant to the role.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and to short/constantly changing deadlines.
  • Must be proactive and self-motivated with a positive attitude towards delivery.
  • Able to build productive relationships with other organisations to share knowledge and good practices.
