The Opportunity

The Sr. Specialist – Long Term Care role is within our Abbott Rapid Diagnostic Infectious Disease business unit is a National role and will cover the US and can expect approximately 70% travel.

The Senior Specialist – Long Term Care will manage national market responsibilities, aiming to meet and exceed sales plans for targeted products by leveraging Abbott Rapid Diagnostic’s value proposition. This role involves analyzing, profiling, and developing strategic relationships with targeted long-term care accounts, partnering with distribution channel partners and internal Abbott divisions to prioritize and qualify customers, and closing new business opportunities to achieve financial goals. The primary responsibility is to drive market share growth of assigned products within top long-term care accounts. The Senior Specialist will act as an expert in the selling process and serve as the Abbott Rapid Diagnostic resource for long-term care strategy, supporting distributors, customers, technical service, sales organizations, marketing, and corporate accounts.

What You’ll Work On

  • Create and manage sales plans for targeted products by analyzing territories for new business opportunities and implementing creative sales and marketing strategies to achieve/exceed sales goals and increase market penetration. Modify plans as new products and market opportunities emerge.

  • Conduct consultative sales presentations and progress opportunities through the sales process using Salesforce.com. Engage key stakeholders and thought leaders to maximize closing potential.

  • Support distribution partners and Infectious Disease Account Managers in selling products through training, sales meetings, technical expertise, and marketing support to increase market share and penetration.

  • Develop executive-level customer relationships and secure contractual commitments from assigned long-term care accounts to convert competitive business.

  • Develop key opinion leaders to serve as reference sites, technical experts, and product advocates for current and new products.

  • Represent Abbott at local and national long-term care conferences, distributor meetings, and industry events.

  • Analyze competitors and capture market intelligence to capitalize on current market conditions.

  • Understand state and federal regulations impacting testing in the long-term care market, including reimbursement.

  • Coordinate with other Abbott resources (operations, regulatory affairs, product development) as necessary.

  • Develop and submit reports (sales, expense, forecasts) while adhering to corporate guidelines. Actively use Salesforce.com (CRM) daily.

  • Follow Technical Services procedures for documenting and reporting customer product complaints to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in sales, marketing, business management or related coursework.

  • 3-5+ years applicable sales experience

  • Travel nationally across the U.S. at least 70% of the time, including overnight travel as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Long-term care experience

  • Additional experience/training in laboratory product sales and the diagnostics industry.

  • Point of Care Diagnostics sales experience .

    $72,700.00 – $145,300.00
