About the Role:

The Compliance Program Manager will play a key role in the development and evolution of Octave’s compliance programs. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive compliance programs focused on meeting regulatory, Medicare, HIPAA and payer requirements. Your responsibilities will include crafting and executing a strategic roadmap for compliance and regulatory initiatives, with a primary emphasis on Medicare and HIPAA compliance. You will collaborate closely with senior management and stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness of our compliance efforts, conducting audits, risk assessments, and driving continual improvement. This role demands strong cross-functional collaboration skills within the dynamic healthcare environment, ensuring that Octave’s policies, controls, and processes uphold the highest standards of compliance.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a roadmap for implementation of compliance and regulatory initiatives, with an emphasis on Medicare and HIPAA compliance programs.
  • Coordinate compliance program effectiveness tasks to fulfill the goals and objectives of the compliance program, in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

  • Analyze internal business systems to ensure compliance with industry regulations and ethical standards.

  • Carrying out compliance audits and risk assessments while strategizing risk mitigation; identifying areas for compliance enhancement and driving improvements.

  • Partner with other departmental heads to ensure that all business operations are in line with business policies.

  • Crafting and implementing compliance programs and developing risk management strategies in line with regulations and best practices.

  • Report information to the Executive Team and assist in preparing formal reports for the Board of Directors.

  • Design control systems to address cases of violation of internal business policies.

  • Design ongoing training programs for employees of the business; guiding and training colleagues to create awareness and understanding of compliance.

  • Putting on your investigator's hat to address and resolve compliance concerns; keeping meticulous records of compliance activities and findings.

  • Being the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external vendors for seamless communication.

  • Navigating multi-state payer rules as Octave expands its reach.

  • Scaling the compliance program as Octave’s national footprint grows.

  • Keeping your finger on the pulse of healthcare laws and sharing updates with the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer 4+ years previous experience in compliance consultation, compliance/regulatory management, program management or similar role.

  • Requires direct knowledge of CMS Medicare regulations and compliance programs (made its own bullet point).

  • Familiarity with PCI DSS compliance requirements.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements.

  • Experience participating in SOC2 Type 2 compliance control enforcement and audit processes preferred.

  • Experience supporting company-wide security compliance programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize control gaps and audit findings.

  • Preferred certifications include PMP, CHC, and/or HCCA.

  • Ability to understand and interpret regulations and regulatory guidance, and incorporate them into a comprehensive and appropriate compliance program.

  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance practices, and a good understanding of the types of compliance matters applicable to a company like Octave.

  • Adept in creating reporting and presentations which simplify complex themes into understandable communications.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills—including the ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders across the business.

  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, including navigating vendors, leadership and interpersonal working relationships.

  • Ability to manage time and influence collaborators on a project and everyday basis; ability to self-start and work independently.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to uphold complete confidentiality of information encountered.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and assess and analyze data in order to solve problems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Must be able to frequently communicate with others through virtual meeting applications such as Zoom and Google Meet. 
  • Must be able to observe and communicate information on company provided laptop. 
  • Move up to 10 pounds on occasion. 
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Starting pay for qualified applicants will depend on a combination of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below and this range may be modified in the future. 

The salary range is for zone 1(all states not in zone 2 or zone 3) $85,600 - $101,700.

The salary range for zone 2 (CO, HI, MD, RI) is $94,200 - $103,000.

The salary range for zone 3 (AK, CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, WA) is $98,400 - $107,600.

All zones are eligible for equity in the form of stock options.

Additionally, this position is eligible for the following benefits: company sponsored life insurance, disability and AD&D plans. Voluntary benefits such as 401k retirement, medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, dependent care and commuter/parking options are also available. Octave offers generous Paid Time Off as well as paid parental leave benefits.
