POSITION OVERVIEW 

BBR Partners is searching for a Data Engineer to join our Data Solutions team.  This individual will serve as a technical resource and to our researchers, analysts, and operations teams.  You should have a demonstrated ability to organize, understand and simplify large quantities of data. You will be empowered to proactively identify improvements to data tooling, data quality, reliability, and opportunities to innovate with data. You should have a polished demeanor, be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and have a high attention to detail to help business and technical teams execute. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work with external vendors, Portfolio Management, Research, and Trading teams to build analytics outputs and forward-looking portfolio decision tools to inform and execute firmwide investment management decisions. 
  • Participate in data management and modernization activities for important firm-wide projects. 
  • Manage data automation tasks to perform collection, input, and reporting of fund and investment manager transparency/exposure data for Hedge Funds, Private Equity funds, Traditional Equity and Fixed Income managers from multiple sources. 
  • Participate in the generation of portfolio review presentations for the firm’s clients; manage reporting workflows for presentations. 
  • Crosstrain with Portfolio Management, Portfolio Accounting, Trading, and Reporting groups within Data Management and support them as required. 
  • Work constantly to help the team and firm improve document processes and workflows. 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Experience using Python for data automation/ETL automation (e.g. Pandas, git, SQL, Airflow/Prefect/Dagster). 
  • Experience with *nix and Bash. 
  • At least 1 year experience in investment management, market data, financial services, or fintech.  
  • Excellent quantitative, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • High level of attention to detail.  
  • Ability to work with a fair degree of autonomy and demonstrate tremendous initiative and sense of personal accountability. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively across the full spectrum of internal stakeholders. 
  • Intellectually curious out-of-the-box thinker who is passionate about brainstorming innovative ways to use data to solve business problems. 
  • Demonstrates unquestioned ethics and credibility and strives to exemplify the highest ethical standards. 
  • Experience working with and delivering data visualization and reporting using enterprise tooling (e.g. Sigma, Tableau, Power-BI) (*Preferred).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION  
Base salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple reasons, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The expected base salary for the role will generally be between $70,000 and $85,000 per year at the commencement of employment, but the final salary offered may be outside this range based on these reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, base salary is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonuses, alternative incentive packages and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will, and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
