Role Description

As a Data Product Manager Associate, , you will play a pivotal role in creating innovative data products and developing a compelling vision and roadmap to advance these products. You will help identify customer needs, market opportunities, technology trends to ensure the products built will meet standards and provide value to the customer.  Once their product has launched, Product Managers measure product and business metrics to understand their customers’ ongoing needs, increase adoption, and drive business value.  The product manager associate will be the liaison between stakeholders and engineering team, driving requirements, managing priorities, and planning outcomes.  

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

  • Define Vision and Customer Need
    • Support the gathering, understanding & documenting customer needs Based on interactions with customers, documents customer needs at a feature level
    • Identifies iterative improvements to features and helps distil customer feedback into actionable tasks
    • Delivers customer technical requirements to engineering teams

  • Product Portfolio Management
    • Support creation of product roadmap(s); 1-2 year view of how the product(s) solves customer needs
    • Contributes near-term input for the product roadmap 

  • Product Planning and Development
    • Supports customer goals and business requirements for product release(s) to ensure implementation is aligned with requirements; make necessary adjustments
    • Develops customer requirements (user stories) and business requirements for a set of assigned features
    • Reviews end-of -sprint product demo with development team and acceptance criteria for feature set

  • Launch
    • Supports and participates in post-launch reviews and ensures feedback is reincorporated into the feature

  • Operate
    • With the support of peers and manager: Identifies, classifies, and prioritizes feature-level customer issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Computer Science Engineering degree, or related technical background (Degree or relevant work equivalent of successfully managing and shipping highly technical products)

  • Minimum 2  years experience in product lifecycle management

  • Minimum 2 years hands on experience with analysis tools and scripting languages such as SQL is required

  • Minimum 1 year experience with data analysis techniques, pattern identification in structured and semi-structured datasets, and data transformation techniques

  • Preferred experience in ability to perform User Acceptance, data regression Testing and ensure that project solutions align to requirements and Run experiments to validate concepts

  • Preferred experience in the financial industry with knowledge of investment management concepts, including security characteristics, performance, attribution, portfolio characteristics, and analytics.

  • Proficient in source-to-target mapping and data lineage analysis

Southern California Base Salary Range: $103,977-$166,363

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
