Leidos is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the IT Operations Manager to work in our San Antonio, TX office. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with the Integrated Defensive Cyber Systems mission supporting Air Force Defensive Cyber Operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working on complex systems. This position is located near Lackland Air Force Base; all work is onsite.
Primary Responsibilities
- Advise Senior Leadership: Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders within the Customer Organization, providing expert guidance on cybersecurity operations and system readiness.
- Lead Cyber Operations Teams: Oversee and manage a team of approximately 40 personnel across tier 1, 2, and 3 NOC/SOC operations. Ensure comprehensive support for Air Force (AF) cyber defense systems, including cyber training and technical documentation. Regularly update AF Group and Wing commanders on the operational status of their systems.
- Manage Global Cyber Defense Operations: Lead tier 1, 2, and 3 technicians in a 24/7 operations center, supporting AF Defensive Cyber Squadrons. Oversee the functionality of sensors, hardware, and software at all 180 AF bases worldwide, ensuring seamless reporting to the centralized Air Force Security Operations Center (SOC) and Cyber Protection Teams deployed globally.
- Oversee Cyber Training Programs: Direct the development and delivery of training programs for defensive cyber airmen and internal technical teams. Ensure that all personnel are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate PMO-provided systems effectively and perform their defensive cyber missions.
- Supervise Technical Documentation: Guide a team in producing high-quality technical documentation for PMO systems. Ensure that all documentation meets the needs of airmen and internal tier 1/2/3 technicians, facilitating smooth operation and maintenance.
- Manage Release and Transition Processes: Oversee the release and transition management process to ensure that internal maintenance teams and operational airmen are fully prepared to utilize new hardware and software solutions. Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.
- Conduct Trend Analysis for Continuous Improvement: Lead trend analysis on incidents and operational data to provide actionable insights to the engineering team, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement in system performance and reliability.
- Brief Senior Leadership on Cyber Readiness: Regularly brief AF commanders on the status of PMO-provided equipment, ensuring that all systems meet Air Force and CYBERCOM readiness standards. Provide critical updates on system performance and operational readiness to support informed decision-making.
Basic Qualifications
- BA degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of education
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences, including senior leadership. Strong facilitation skills to lead discussions and drive decision-making processes.
- Proven leadership experience in managing and guiding teams within technical IT or cyber operations. Ability to mentor and motivate team members, manage resources effectively, and lead projects to successful completion.
- Must possess an active Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance is required to be considered.
- Previous experience working closely with senior leaders within the Air Force, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and effectively communicate and collaborate on high-level initiatives.

- IAT level III, IAM level III
- ITIL foundation or higher
- Prior experience:
- - with defensive cyber
- - supporting Air Force Cyber or Cyber Command
- - Defense Readiness Reporting Systems (DRRS) reporting for Air Force units or Joint Command and Control – Readiness (JCC2-R) reporting for CYBERCOM presented units
- - as a reddit moderator, Wikipedia editor, or similar collaborative methods for updating and revising technical documents.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00
