Job Summary

The Health Equity Evaluation Specialist will work as part of the health equity evaluation team to design and implement evaluation strategies associated with the health equity work at Corewell Health So. The primary focus of this role will be to work collaboratively with members of the evaluation team as well as stakeholders inside and outside Corewell Health to evaluate key priorities outlined in the health equity strategy and contribute to reporting on the progress and impact of the health system in achieving health equity goals. The health equity evaluation team is responsible for evaluation of key strategic priorities and program level evaluations of community health and health equity programs within each of Corewell Health’s 3 regions. Candidates should have a strong background in the theory and practice of evaluation, as well as methodological training in both quantitative and qualitative methods. The evaluation team values diverse perspectives, open and honest dialogue, and curiosity. It is important for candidates to be able to manage fast-changing conditions and periods of uncertainty.

Essential Functions

  • Asks critical questions that help to drive transformative thinking with colleagues at Corewell Health and community partners.
  • Coordinates planning and design of evaluative processes that are supportive of program and/or strategy evaluations in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contributes to and at times leads reporting of evaluation findings and recommendations, including annually to key stakeholders at Corewell Health.
  • Develop and maintain network with internal and external partners to support evaluation, including ways to bring diverse perspectives into the evaluation process.
  • Works collaboratively with the rest of the evaluation team and requests support from colleagues proactively when needed.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to tailor messaging, findings, and recommendations to different types of audiences with varying information needs (e.g., executives, program staff, community member).
  • Wrestles with complexity and maintains curiosity when examining evaluation findings, data, and observations.
  • Conducts both quantitative and qualitative analysis of data in support of answering evaluative questions.
  • Develops data collection tools and processes that align with evaluation plans and questions to generate the evidence needed to evaluate health equity initiatives and strategies at Corewell Health.
  • Identifies opportunities for philanthropic support to support objectives.
  • Participates in Hospital / Community committees as member and consultant ensuring a health equity perspective is represented.
  • Demonstrates by attitude and action recognition of the importance of interaction with co-workers. Communicates effectively and respectfully with co-workers and staff of other affiliates.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant experience related experience
  • Previous leadership/management/project management experience
