- Category expert with deep knowledge of product, competition, and key market trends for each identified category
- Provides overall category expertise to support portfolio positioning, capabilities, and growth. Ensure that 3M portfolios are relevant and prominent as part of category plans.
- Sets category strategy with channel specific execution plans to drive growth with targeted portfolios, programs and campaigns.
- Area selling organizations link to the businesses (including brands, products, NPI, priorities) based on CATEGORY priorities.
- Actively monitor trends/innovations relating to the focus categories and integrates into plans to maintain relevance and stay competitive.
- Communicates category (segment, portfolio, new product) strategies to channel& shopper teams . Be the voice of area customer & portfolio needs back to the portfolio teams.
- Analyzes category research to bring forth comprehensive insights and tell the story about the state of the category to key internal and external stakeholders.
- Makes data driven recommendations to drive growth - reporting on category metrics important to the channel partners
- Ensure customers have the right assortment instore and online – supporting category strategy and driving influential mix.
- Ensuring category demand plans are complete & accurate (includes allocation execution)
- Guiding portfolio direction for channel / acct specific sku's (club, mass, grocery, private label)
- Oversee development of category line review plans & JBP’s for targeted portfolios in partnership with sales / shopper organizations
- Communicating category pricing strategy & executing defined channel plans.
- Shared Accountabilities
- Portfolio, Segment, and Shopper marketers – segment and portfolio growth priorities .
- End to End teams – insights on campaign and program performance
- Category Expertise – bringing insights / strategies to selling organization, portfolio & shopper marketing.
- Demand plan accuracy in partnership with S&OP Demand
Qualifications for success
- Channel / Category experience.
- Sales & Marketing experience / partnership.
- Ability to develop strategy and guide others to implement communicated strategy
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong Collaboration skills enabling program execution including presentation skills.
- Prioritization and ability to make decisions for areas of responsibility.
- Data led storytelling for both internal and external stakeholders
- Known team player and contributor
- Understanding of 3M businesses, technologies, and culture
