Job Description:

This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the local Business Sales department including direct supervision of sales personnel, attainment of revenue budgets, financial forecasting, expense and capital expenditure management.  Reports to the Director of Business Sales.

What you will do to contribute to the company's success

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of account executives to achieve and exceed sales targets and performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement sales plans and strategies for the assigned territory and market segments.
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities for dark fiber and lit transport solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with customers and partners.
  • Manage and maintain a pipeline of sales opportunities and forecast revenue accurately.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers and partners, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, marketing, and finance, to deliver solutions that meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Represent the company at industry events and trade shows, and promote the company's brand and value proposition.
  • Stay abreast of market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback, and provide feedback and insights to the management and product teams.
  • Determine the total addressable market and the market share potential for the company's solutions in the target market segments.
  • Model various scenarios and opportunities to evaluate the costs, revenue, and overall value to the company.
  • Creates budgets and executes business sales functions in all systems within a sales territory.
  • Creates capital and operating budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitors, controls, and assumes total profit and loss responsibility for meeting revenue and cash flow performance.
  • Provides the highest standard of quality, commitment, and courtesy in dealing with customers, associates, and industry colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management in the telecommunications industry, with a focus on dark fiber and lit transport solutions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and performance metrics.
  • Strong knowledge of the carrier market, including hyperscalers, cloud service providers, data centers, and subsea cable providers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within the assigned territory and market segments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM, and other sales tools.
