As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our team as an Operations Manager at our Brantford, ON flour mill facility.

Operations Managers at The Andersons, Inc. are an integral component of the supply chain by leading the day-to-day management of our grain/milling facilities. Our management teams consist of leaders who are committed to establishing and promoting a culture of safety amongst team members across the United States and Canada.. Individuals in these roles also possess key skills of a disciplined safety mindset, hands-on leadership, and overall knowledge of asset management.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for managing the daily activities of the of a grain/milling facility including operations, staffing, maintenance, safety, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily facility operations, equipment maintenance and general facility upkeep.
  • Select, train, develop and evaluate performance of grain worker team members.
  • Monitor and track the logistics, flows, and processing of grain to ensure the facility is maximizing profitability and minimizing shrink.
  • Manage facility safety programs including leading safety committee meetings, safety training and exposure & root cause analysis investigations.
  • Project and develop annual operating expense and capital budget expense goals. Develop parameters for both scope and vision of the Grain Group’s capital plan and ensure all facilities are in line with standards.
  • Report and analyze the financial impact of all facility operations on the business.

Applicable to Food Grade Facilities:

  • Maintain a good working knowledge and adherence to all food safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform all tasks in a fashion that promotes the safety and quality of our products.
  • Take an active part in all required food safety and quality related meetings and training events.
  • Ensure employees are fully aware food safety related concerns and requirements.
  • Take necessary corrective/preventative action steps to reduce or eliminate food safety risks.

  • Is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function.
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operations challenges.
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from senior manager.
  • Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on process improvement, including the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team to achieve shared objectives, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Capacity to work in a dynamic environment with a continuous improvement mindset, adapting to changing circumstances and driving innovation.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; a degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years’ relevant experience required.
