Position Summary

The Level 3 Senior Network Engineer specializing in Check Point and Cisco Firepower will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performing network security systems. This role requires in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Check Point and Cisco Firepower technologies, ensuring the security, stability, and efficiency of the network infrastructure. The engineer will serve as a technical lead for complex projects, provide advanced troubleshooting, and mentor junior network engineers.
 

Key Responsibilities

Network Security Design and Implementation:

  • Design, configure, and deploy Check Point and Cisco Firepower solutions to meet organizational security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain network security policies, procedures, and configurations.
  • Integrate network security systems with other security and networking technologies (e.g., VPNs, IDS/IPS, SIEM).

Advanced Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Provide Level 3 support for network security incidents, including deep packet analysis and forensic investigation.
  • Troubleshoot complex network security issues, working closely with other IT teams to resolve them.
  • Perform root cause analysis on network incidents and develop action plans to mitigate future occurrences.

Maintenance and Optimization:

  • Monitor and maintain network security systems to ensure optimal performance and security posture.
  • Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to Check Point and Cisco Firepower systems.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and remediation of identified issues.

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead network security projects, from design through implementation, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior network engineers and support staff.
  • Document network designs, configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and operations, to align network security practices with business goals.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, security incidents, and network performance.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure network security systems adhere to industry best practices and compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
  • Participate in audits and assessments, providing necessary documentation and support to auditors.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in network security, with a focus on Check Point and Cisco Firepower technologies.
  • Proven experience with firewall policy design, implementation, and management.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, routing, and switching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell) for network tasks.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Experience with other network security tools and technologies is a plus (e.g., Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Juniper).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $185,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
