Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. As a member of the US Value & Access team the Account Executive (AE), Specialty Pharmacy, reports in to the Director, Specialty Pharmacy. This role will be responsible for managing the pharmacy relationships across key national and regional accounts, often in collaboration with our payer and patient services teams. The AE is a strategic partner to our brand teams and the primary point of contact to the pharmacies for all activities. The AEs responsibilities entail but are not limited to Specialty Pharmacies contract development, establishing fee for service programs, monitoring and improving performance, tactical problem solving, working through technical issues, specialty pharmacy data analysis, product launches, brand escalations, optimizing service and ensuring high quality standards.

As part of a broader management team, the AE will partner with Director to influence business unit decision makers, or function leads to drive strategies and objectives to effectively consult and make recommendations to senior management on significant issues, prepare and present project updates, and exercises independent judgement in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. This role is highly cross-functional and requires a high degree of collaboration across account teams, brand, data, and patient services.

  • Responsible for managing the pharmacy relationships across key national and regional accounts, often in collaboration with our payer team
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for specialty pharmacy activities including contracting, and implementing fee for service programs including operations and performance management
  • Lead the planning, tracking and implementation of Specialty Pharmacy programs by serving as the business unit liaison with cross functional teams
  • Support the implementation of complex projects spanning across business units where research/analysis requires evaluation of business requirements, development of achievable short/long term objectives, and coordination of interdependent activities to ensure the successful implementation of program initiatives.
  • Support program development, value proposition, oversight, and day-to-day management for specialty pharmacy programs include:
  • Pharmacy based patient clinical management programs
  • Provider programs
  • Pharma services (Adherence Program, Patient Assistance, Hub Triage, Value Based Contracting)
  • Pharmacy and Medical Benefit Clinical Programs
  • Travel to Specialty Pharmacies to ensure successful implementations.
  • Report program performance against expectation and influence changes to programs to improve competitive position and optimize performance.
  • Lead or help develop program or project scope statements, in consultation with applicable stakeholders (e.g., Brand Teams, PAR, CAPS, MAT, GSS, and Legal).
  • Establish/apply quality objectives, criteria, standards, and levels using appropriate quality management methods, with stakeholder input (e.g., key performance indicators, scope definition).

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of pharmacy channel and negotiation experience.

Or

Master’s degree and 6 years of pharmacy channel and negotiation experience.

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of pharmacy channel and negotiation experience.

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of pharmacy channel and negotiation experience.

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of pharmacy channel and negotiation experience.

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialty Pharmacy, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), or health plan experience
  • Call center / reimbursement hub management experience preferred, call center / reimbursement partner management experience a plus
  • Previous Access and Reimbursement experience from a program development, marketing, sales, or operational standpoint
  • Prior managed health plan, pharmacy benefit and specialty drug management experience preferred
  • Understanding of managed care and pharmacy benefit cost management levers preferred
  • Analytic experience – Microsoft Excel skills (ability to create and troubleshoot calculations), attention to detail
  • Project management experience preferred – ability to track complex projects and bring tasks to completion on time and within budget
  • Process management experience – the ability to document processes and improve them to eliminate waste
  • Communication skills – strong spoken and written communication skills to translate Amgen business requirements into operational programs at a partner operation, and ability to effectively navigate to outcome where everybody wins across diverse internal and external partner groups
  • Ability to work through others and mange in a matrix environment

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
