Job Title: Senior Director, Labor Optimization  

 

Job Summary:  

The Senior Director, Labor Optimization will lead the development and implementation of labor optimization strategies, processes, and tools to enable data-driven decision making across the enterprise. The goal of Labor Optimization is to exceed customer expectations through service levels and enhance the associate experience while reducing cost and increasing productivity. This includes creating standardized visibility and tools for Supply Chain Labor Optimization, establishing a Supply Chain reporting suite and analytics for diverse inputs within the Labor Optimization process, and developing best-in-class labor optimization processes tailored for each network. The Senior Director will also centralize execution of labor planning optimized for both short-term and long-term demand at the input level, ensuring alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader who creates the future vision of the team while deeply tying into the financial processes (annual operating plan, forecasting, long range plan, etc) to deliver quantifiable financial commitments to the business. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Hire, develop and lead teams of data science and labor optimization management. 
  • Facilitate the daily/weekly/monthly mechanisms to plan, execute and analyze operational performance to deliver financial commitments.  
  • Provide key assumptions within the operational metrics (inputs) that are built within the financial processes aligning to financial commitments (AOP, Forecast, LRP) 
  • Lead a team that builds data science models to incorporate intelligent inputs (AI/ML), operating realities and best in class optimization techniques to deliver optimal solves.  
  • Lead a team that develops highly granular visibility tools for the supply chain labor optimization process to enable operational and financial commitment optimization 
  • Establish a Supply Chain reporting suite and analytics for diverse inputs within the Labor Optimization process to provide centralized support for data-driven decision making.  
  • Develop and implement best-in-class labor optimization processes tailored for each network within the Walmart US supply chain, integrated into the daily mechanisms of running the business, including change management. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive adoption and usage of labor optimization tools and processes.  
  • Continuously monitor and analyze labor optimization data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize labor spend to support execution and control of improvement projects 
  • Develop and implement staffing strategies to optimize associate type ratios and capacity solves.  
  • Ensure governance to hold teams accountable to the labor optimization process and capacity solves as defined for each network.  

 

Outputs of the Labor Planning Process:  

  • Enhanced labor optimization tools, products, and modeling to drive better analytics and visibility at the input level 
  • Site Level plans that identify actions required to optimize customer and associate experience.
  • Integration of automation and machine learning into Labor Optimization processes.  
  • Data that drives tools, product development, modeling, and reporting (DRAX, Win the Day, MWS, etc.).  
  • Standardized reporting suite providing core labor optimization metrics and associated drivers for each Supply Chain network.  
  • Analytics to support guidance for material cost drivers of staffing strategy and capacity solves.  
  • Stopgap for network reporting, supporting transition to Memo Metrics in One Stream and creation of data pipelines as needed.  
  • A uniform labor optimization mechanism, individually customized for each Supply Chain network, while maintaining standardization within each individual network.  
  • Labor optimization training programs and content.  
  • Standardization of inputs and associated definitions.  
  • Exception reporting communication.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 6 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related area. 3 years’ supervisory experience. 3 years’ experience leading and completing cross-functional projects.
