The Product Manager is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family

In this role, you’re expected to:

  • Coordinate planning and other related activities for launching of new capabilities and functionalities in the Payments area that are strategically aligned with the global direction across functions including Technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Finance and client facing teams with senior product managers and execute.
  • Assist senior product managers in delivering best-in-class capabilities and client experience while meeting the revenue target for the product.
  • Partner with Finance and other stakeholders to evaluate investments in product development, and monitor and control billing/revenue, expenditure, and benefits realization.
  • Work closely with global and regional/cluster product teams to develop and refine the strategy of product solutions, go to market approach, and delivery model.
  • Work with product control functions to ensure that all relevant documentation and processes are strictly adhered to and part of the management fabric of the Payments business.
  • Work closely with the client facing teams and core product teams to ensure that demands of the clients are well understood.
  • Invest time to keep track of competition, market trends and new technologies.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the firm, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policies, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Proficient in Japanese, reading, writing and proactively speaking in business discussions
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in product/project management roles
  • Working knowledge of marketing, business analysis, product development and/or analytics
  • Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication in both English and Japanese
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
