About the Role

Support the identification, sourcing, pursuit, negotiation, definition, planning and delivery of Corporate Transactions in Insurance companies across M&A, greenfield and partnerships by working in close collaboration with Business Units, Group Office functions, third party advisors and potential business partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assess strategically important Corporate Transactions for Insurance companies and the develop supporting transaction rationale, structuring commercial solutions and bid strategies to pursue strategically important inorganic growth opportunities for superior returns and growth in shareholder value

  • Support the development of framework, requirements, criteria, deliverable, strategic priorities, transaction rationale and initial assessment of potential opportunities

  • Advise on opportunities that are strategically important and/or that should not be recommended for further investigation

  • Sourcing and development of pursuit plans for short-listed opportunities

  • Support pursuit efforts by leveraging existing network, internal networks and advisor networks

  • Assist other teams across the Group and BUs to evaluate and execute strategically important growth opportunities and other strategic projects and initiatives in line with above responsibilities

  • Initiate alignment discussions with LBU & Key functions and external stakeholders for deal development and transaction execution

  • Support development of valuation, financial modelling, initial assessment, transaction business case and synergy assessment of approved transactions, working collaboratively with Group Office functional teams and Business Unit teams

  • Support development of payment structure and bid strategy recommendations for consideration by the Strategic Initiatives Committee (SIC) which are commercial, practical and sustainable and will allow AIA to deliver superior returns

  • Define the strategic narrative of communication for internal and external stakeholders

  • Participating in management meetings and workshops with potential business partners and their advisors

  • Prepare communication packs and plan management meetings and workshops with potential business partners and their advisors

  • Collaborate with Transaction Excellence Team to support diligence efforts, including developing diligence plans, managing multi-function workstreams, developing materials for SIC

  • Support and coordinate the ideation of solutions and co-creation of business plans with strategic partners, LBUs and Group Office SMEs

  • Support the development of best practice tools, resources and processes for business plans and commercial proposals for potential M&A/partnership distribution transactions

  • Manage project documentation

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years in corporate development in Asia, preferably a mix of advisory and in- house.

  • Track record in M&A leading deals and projects from origination, pursuit, execution (including internal and external project management) and completion and driving partnerships and business models with commercially successful outcomes

  • Proven exposure and deep knowledge of private transactions and partnership arrangements in Insurance in Asian Markets

  • Multi-market & LBU exposure desirable

  • Deep Insurance sector knowledge and strong business and commercial acumen

  • Analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to navigate complex corporate environment

  • Self Starter, Independent and proactive mentality

  • Strong work ethic with a positive outlook

  • Effective presentation, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
