Position Summary
As a member of the professional staff, contributes knowledge, business thinking, creative problem solving and project management skills in the designated operational discipline to support team and/or department objectives. Generally, works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, monitoring the flow of work between own department and others in alignment with business strategies, selecting and developing effective work teams, managing own organization through reliable systems and processes, and producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision-making process.
MVW’s Business Leader Rotational Program is a cross functional career opportunity designed to develop well-rounded professionals who understand the interdependencies across a complex business and between different functions and departments while contributing unique value to the organization. During this program, participants (“Program & Project Management Leader”) will be provided the opportunity to gain exposure and experience in various functions and departments within MVW (e.g., Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Resort Operations, Corporate Functions).
The Program & Project Management Leader will support and lead projects, collaborate with business leaders and teams, and receive mentorship and guidance to enhance their skills and business knowledge. The duration of the program varies, but typically lasts 18-24 months. Upon completion of the program, participants should have gained a holistic understanding of MVW’s operations and be well-equipped to pursue a career with MVW in one of several areas of specialization.
Expected Contributions
Rotational Experiences
- Through a series of rotations, gains hands-on experience and develops a deep understanding of different functional areas within the organization.
- For each rotation/department, develops an understanding of the strategic direction of the department and the business environment, and evaluates how business strategies align with the overall direction of the business.
- Supports departments/functions by conducting market analysis, competitive intelligence, strategic planning, business development, or project management.
- Identifies areas of improvement and proposes effective solutions to enhance the overall efficiency of each rotational department.
Common Program Contributions
- Serves as a strategic thought partner, working with executive leaders to create strategies that support the adoption of processes and changes required for business growth.
- Manages Strategic Business Support projects, as assigned: consultation, diagnostics, planning (e.g., project proposals, work plans, business cases, vendor reviews), design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Provides program management excellence; keeps projects and initiatives on budget, in scope, and on schedule.
- Understands the strategy, priorities, and operating models for MVW’s operational function.
- Accesses and synthesizes data from a variety of sources to formulate informed viewpoints on organizational issues.
Project Management
- Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Manages smaller projects and business processes or parts of larger ones.
- Develops short and long-term goals and objectives and develops and executes against them.
- Applies a structured methodology and leads project and program management activities.
- Supports and engages senior leaders with project management thought leadership.
- Develops and maintains detailed project plans and trackers.
- Coordinates efforts with other cross-functional specialists.
- Tracks and reports issues or areas of concern and raises risks to leadership as needed.
- Defines, measures, and shares program and project success metrics.
- Manages key stakeholders effectively, including cross-functional partners.
- Develops lessons learned following project close-outs.
- Provides program management excellence; keeps multiple projects and initiatives on budget and on schedule.
Candidate Profile
Education:
- Master of Business Administration or graduate degree in a relevant field required,
- BA or BS degree, ideally in Business Administration, Communications, Hospitality Management, Organizational Development, Operations Management, Finance, or any quantitative degree program required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience, including relevant work experience in areas such as consulting, business operations, or hospitality.
