The HSE Manager will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and continually work towards improvements on the safety programs to reduce/eliminate gaps in compliance.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Integrity - Ensures that all activities are conducted in accordance with the company's policies and procedures and are in compliance with health and safety guidelines

  • Establishes Health and Safety project budgets/proposals and ensure related projects are completed on time and within budget. Prepares reports including observations, analysis and recommendations for control and correction of hazards

  • Provides support to corporate and facility personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health (OSHA) regulations. Record and maintain required documents. Advises facility staff of regulatory changes with which facility personnel must comply

  • Lead incident investigation process and document findings, support the development and implementation of an action plan. Reviews safety incident near miss reports. Administers Workers Compensation claims

  • Designs, plans, coordinates, and facilitates programs about employee health and safety instructions, regulatory compliance, and incident protection and prevention that will allow the company to deliver a consistent safety message, build a greater safety awareness and encourage safe work behaviors throughout the organization

  • Drives training and education program to instruct facility personnel in matters pertaining to occupation health and safety - prevention of accidents

  • People Leadership and Development. Guides, motivates and develops indirect subordinates within HR policies for the benefit of both BRCC and the employee

  • Ensures compliance with all Federal and State Environmental Regulations including, RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP

Education and Skill Requirements

  • 5 years HSE Experience with strong emphasis on a safety background 

  • Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety (Preferred)

  • ASP, CHMM, OHST Certifications or ability to attain (Preferred)

  • Strong subject matter knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, EPA and DOT Regulations as well as working knowledge of ANSI and NFPA standards 

  • General knowledge of food grade industrial equipment, applications, process and procedures. Ability to monitor daily work activities, evaluate health and safety conditions and facilitate corrective actions. 

  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated leadership.

  • Strong working    

  • Experienced in emergency response and be able to maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment preferred.

  • Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).

  • Ability to complete duties with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

  • US Military or Veteran a plus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Physical Requirements

This is a full-time position and may require long hours and may require weekend and nights work per events

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.

  • Light to moderate lifting is required

  • Ability to uphold the stress of traveling

  • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).

  • Ability to work in a confined area.

  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
