Moderna is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive project and program management of AI-readiness initiatives at Moderna globally. We’re looking for someone with a high level of integrity and personal accountability, strong interpersonal skills, and infrastructure technology domain expertise.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Program Management – take a structured, data-driven, and risk-based approach to program scoping, execution, and reporting
Kick off and successfully manage multiple, simultaneous, complex, high visibility workstreams with full ownership, effective collaboration, and good process
Build processes, templates, and structure, or leverage existing ones as appropriate
Manage vendors, schedule, scope, and cost
Measure program success (or lack thereof) and risks using data and facts
Provide balanced risk remediation strategies and recommendations and drive risk mitigation
Develop and maintain close stakeholder relationships and build influence to drive the appropriate outcomes across Moderna
Provide clear, accurate, consistent, and timely communications
Advance good infrastructure and security practices and culture
Partner Collaboration - work with Cybersecurity, Builder Tools & Platforms, Infrastructure, Identity & Endpoint Engineering, GRC, AI Engineering, Data, Enablement/L&D, software engineering, and business stakeholders to manage and drive improvement projects in a structured and predictable manner
Manage multiple initiatives to oversee the architecture and lifecycle of enterprise AI systems, including agent identity, tool authorization, and secure development practices; to drive governance frameworks that define permitted AI use, contextual standards, and regulatory alignment — including GxP where applicable; and to ensure end-to-end observability and monitoring of AI agents in production.
Own the operating model for AI enablement programs, including pilots, cohorts, and phased rollouts, and partner with Enablement/L&D teams to shape role‑based learning paths for AI builders
Actively contribute to creating a more inclusive culture and environment at Moderna; endorse, create, and maintain antiracist policies and processes
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
Experience: 8+ years in Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, or similar roles in AI/ML-heavy environments
Technical Depth: Strong understanding of AI/ML systems, including model training pipelines, LLMs, MLOps, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
Strong understanding of AI/ML development workflows, AI‑assisted engineering tools, or modern software development platforms
Demonstrated technical depth, problem-solving capabilities, and stakeholder and vendor management skills
Experience in running programs within a cross-functional, global team of mixed engineering, architecture, and operations
Ability to successfully scope and drive complex and multi-workstream programs in a structured, risk-considerate, data-driven fashion
Experience improving developer productivity and building internal tools/platforms.
Ability to define metrics, analyze tradeoffs, and drive decisions with data.
Strong listener with the ability to deeply understand, ask the right questions, and proactively pursue constructive feedback
Proven ability to operate in highly matrixed environments and influence without direct authority.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level storytelling
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
Background in software engineering, data science, or machine learning
Experience with LLM platforms, prompt engineering workflows, or AI copilots
Experience with AI development platforms, copilots, developer tooling, or MLOps concepts
Experience with responsible AI, model governance, or compliance frameworks
Experience driving structured, process-driven AI transformation initiatives.
Familiarity with tools such as Kubernetes, Airflow, MLFlow, or similar MLOps stacks
Familiarity with governed enablement models (e.g., citizen development, platform standards, golden paths)
Knowledge of security and compliance standards relevant to AI and AI-assisted engineering.
Influential, inclusive, and trusted partner compassionate to the needs and situations of all your stakeholders
Embrace a culture of continuous service improvement and service excellence
A desire to make an impact as part of a high-growth, transformational company
