Circ's flexible technology is powering the clean closet and helping the fashion industry make monumental strides toward a truly circular eco-economy.

We’ve pioneered a technology that can recycle polycotton — what the majority of our clothes are made of — into reusable fibers. In essence: our process takes textile waste and turns it into materials that your most beloved fashion labels can use for tomorrow’s clothes.

Circ is a registered B Corp Company, named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and a finalist in the Earthshot Prize. We’re unafraid to tackle the hardest challenges and we set ambitious goals that ensure our hard work will make the maximum impact.

Circ is seeking a motivated Textile Product Development Engineer to drive material and product development in sustainable textile applications.

*Must be based on the East Coast, with willingness to travel quarterly:

  • Travel to the Danville, VA campus to visit the team.
  • U.S. travel and international travel to partner sites; could spend a week onsite with partners when traveling internationally.

 Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with textile mills, overseeing circular textile initiatives and facilitating onboarding of manufacturing partners to deliver sustainable textiles to brands.
  • Perform research, testing, data gathering and analysis in an office, laboratory or manufacturing environment to support Circ material & product development functions.
  • Coordinate research and development efforts in the testing and characterization of materials and interpret the results of physical testing and evaluation of raw materials and finished products.
  • A hands-on interdisciplinary development role that will require curiosity and flexibility to work across a wide range of disciplines in a collaborative environment.
  • Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems and daily operating variances, troubleshooting for resolution of material quality and product development issues.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MSc degree in textile engineering, materials science, chemistry or engineering.
  • Strong understanding of textile manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with both polyester fibers and man-made cellulosic fibers. Familiarity with weaving, knitting and other fabric construction techniques is a plus.
  • Experience characterizing materials and performance using design of experiments methodology.
  • Proven capability of project management in R&D product development.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
