Investment Director - Melbourne

Commonwealth Private (CP) seeks to improve the financial wellbeing of our customers and communities across generations.

Reporting to the Executive Manager – Private Wealth Distribution, this role works closely with the broader Commonwealth Private business areas.

The Investment Director informs and presents to clients on current investment landscape and themes, together with investment opportunities catering towards CP’s UHNW and HNW private clients.

Key objectives of the role

  • Introduce and position the CP investment proposition providing themes, insights and the due diligence process to private client investors.

  • Discuss investment opportunities across multiple asset classes, including fixed income solutions, direct and managed equities, property, structured solutions and alternatives.

  • Educate, train and coach Private Bankers regarding investment opportunities and investment markets.

  • Develop new business leads and opportunities from existing Commonwealth Bank clients and from external networks.

  • Present investment updates and conduct roundtable discussions with existing and potential investors.

  • Lead and facilitate deep conversations with clients for wealth engagement

  • Engage stakeholders across CBA to gain a deeper understanding of the business proposition to enhance engagement with both bankers and clients.

  • Support Private Bankers in their engagement with clients around investment insights, thematics and broad investment opportunities with CP.

  • Measure business growth and client satisfaction for both team and management reporting.

Role requirements

  • Discuss current investment market environment updating clients on changes in financial markets consistent to Investment & Research Team house views.

  • Share insights and expertise across all asset classes including FX, equities, fixed income, international and domestic solutions, real estate, credit, private equity/alternatives.

  • Communicate the CP value proposition to support client meetings to drive positive investment outcomes.

  • Coach, mentor, seek feedback and support team capabilities to deliver CP strategy into various segments of Commonwealth Private stakeholders.

  • Take a collaborative approach to client management working effectively with a broad subset of Private Bankers and their private clients.

  • Build trust and confidence by engaging and working with Private Bankers, business partners and externals providers.

  • Conduct regular meetings with clients to update clients on their holdings and investment markets.

  • Deliver business growth goals and milestones.

  • Understand and adhere to complex legal, regulatory, risk and policy frameworks

  • Operate within all compliance, audit and risk requirements

  • Complete and maintain compliance requirements and continual education (CPD points) as required by role

  • Build constructive and authentic relationships within CP to ensure engagement is optimised with Bankers and the CP clients.

  • Build business and account plans to meet revenue targets that align with the broader CP objectives.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Finance, Business or related discipline

  • 10+ years frontline experience in financial markets/investment management/investment market sales

  • Experience across broad asset class spectrum including Equities, Fixed Income, Real Estate and Alternatives (Private Equity/Hedge Funds/Credit)

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Experience in UHNW/HNW client segment

  • Experience in driving business development and organisational change
