How you will create an impact

Business Package is a strategically important product within AIG Australia, and we are seeking to invest in our team and systems to maximize the growth opportunity.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Property & Business Package Australia, this role is an integral part of AIG’s go to market growth strategy for our Business Package product offering. As a People Manager and Senior Leader, you make the difference in an employee’s experience at work. As a Senior Leader, you reach across geographical and functional boundaries to create alliances that further the organization’s objectives and market position. Your deep and broad industry knowledge allows you to foresee external conditions that could potentially affect AIG’s future.

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • Overall responsibility for the financial management and achievement of budget for Business Package profit centre including profitability, productivity, direct and indirect costs, cash flow, investment, and expense management
  • Define local underwriting appetite within AIG guidelines using underwriting authority (local delegation) and portfolio management skill sets to achieve Risk Adjusted Profit targets as set by the company
  • Establish and control the Business Package Strategic plan – to achieve revenue and expense targets
  • Identify, support, and contribute to internal and external strategies that align Business Package product offerings and grow AIG multinational business
  • Identifying growth opportunities, new business segments, new product opportunities to support growth and objectives
  • Establish yourself with clients, agents, brokers to be seen as a strategic thought leader in the field of Business Package product offering and in so doing promote AIG as the insurance provider of choice
  • Develop customer engagement and go-to market strategy for the Business Package business and where necessary develop segment specific customer value proposition
  • Collaboratively develop and execute a marketing strategy and plan promoting our products, services and expertise. To include creation and dissemination of marketing materials, planned marketing events and seminars, producer training sessions and informal presentations to producers
  • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with all major clients, agents, brokers and other stakeholders and ensure superior quality of product and service outcomes
  • Actively engage in Company-wide broker/agent development plans so that AIG gains the maximum share of available profitable income from key/potential producers
  • Monitor local execution of customer engagement strategy and ensure consistency and adherence to global guardrails
  • Use data and analytics and provide client specific insights such as pricing, risk appetite, profitability and recommendations to our brokers and customers to improve the management of risk
  • Drive a team culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity and inclusion, exemplary conduct, employee engagement and performance excellence
  • Up-skill, engage and empower talent to support our growing business needs

What you’ll need to succeed

  • A commercial thinker with deep knowledge of insurance and financial services industry; an ability to determine how external changes or decisions will impact the company, and plan accordingly. Strong financial acumen; able to anticipate, identify, and explain the financial implications of decisions
  • A strategic thinker and executer who develops a bold vision and distinct strategies that result in competitive advantage; an individual who also translates strategies into specific objectives and plans; and someone who understands the growth drivers of the business and prioritizes initiatives that will accelerate AIG’s momentum; an innovator and brand builder.
  • A Global influencer who builds strategic relationships and alliances with key external stakeholders, influencing decisions to advance the organization's objectives and enhance the growth potential of the company within the region.
  • An AIG ambassador who will strengthen the AIG brand within the marketplace by representing AIG persuasively and effectively in high-stakes internal and external settings
  • A collaborative people leader with a proven track record of managing cross border teams in a matrix organization, with the ability to influence and stakeholders across a wide geography.
  • Extensive insurance leadership experience including P&L responsibility
  • Proven track record of delivering profitable growth in a sizable and relevant general insurance product line in Australasia markets.
  • Deep expertise in Business Package Insurance, expert technical underwriting background
  • Strong business acumen, with a proven track record of making sound judgment backed by strong analytical, quantitative, process and systems skills.
  • Knowledge of Australasia market(s) segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution.
