A General Manager (GM) at The Blue Porch is responsible for overall leadership of the Front and Back of House of the restaurant to ensure strong business results, a high performing team, Uncommon Hospitality for guests and teammates, and the development of future leaders. They create and cultivate a culture with Meritage Values at its core. They partner with the Director of Operations to set short and long term goals for the restaurant along with strategies to achieve them; especially the direction of the menu. They will try new menu items for the Blue Porch and partner with the DO to live Run It Like You Own It to ensure Blue Porch is delivering a menu that Grand Haven wants. They spend time working in all positions to assist where help is needed most. They have full insight to the P&L and responsibility for managing it for strong results and growing sales year over year.

Essential Duties:

•    Partners with DO to set long and short term strategies to achieve sales and operations goals
•    Creates and cultivates a culture with Meritage Values at its core and focused on personal and career development, constantly growing the capability of the team and building a pipeline of future leaders
•    Identifies and develops talent that can take on bigger roles and builds a pipeline of future leaders for their restaurant and others in the Meritage family
•    Ensures adherence to processes/procedures and training across their team to deliver consistency and high quality
•    Works in all positions in the Front and Back of House where help is needed most to ensure great results
•    Conducts interviews, hires and on-boards new employees
•    Creates a culture of Uncommon Hospitality providing best-in-class service and sales generation
•    Works with team to maintain a healthy P&L with growing sales and solid cost control
•    Partners with the Restaurant Service Center (RSC) for Marketing and other sales generation support
•    Partners with the RSC to ensure adherence to company policies and processes, proper support for equipment and technology and Human Resources support

•    Develops new menu items and identifies what is and is not working on the menu

•   Other duties as assigned


 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in restaurant development, brand creation, or culinary management.

  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Passion for food, design, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

2 or more years Operations experience

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree

MS Excel experience
