What You Will Do

  • Manage complex, medium to large-scale projects that are technical and scientific in nature.  
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives; organize and participate in the program and project meetings.   
  • Maintain highly collaborative project environment across teams and stakeholders. 
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. 
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. 
  • Communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. 
  • Assist in the estimate of resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. 
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. 
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. 
  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Track project milestones and deliverables. 
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations. 
  • Assist in the management of changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the technical solutions and schedules on the assigned project(s) are implemented in a timely manner and according to defined quality standards.   

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • Minimum of FIVE (5) years’ experience as a project manager on a medium to large-scale program. 
  • Experience preparing project plans, project management documents and schedules, briefing materials, issue analyses, and similar materials in a clear and concise manner.   
  • Experience using project management software.  
  • Strong analysis and communications skills, both verbal and written, to communicate information to stakeholders across all levels of experience. 

What Would Be Nice To Have

  • Experience working at NIH or another HHS Agency 
  • Familiarity with Common Data Elements Repository (CDE-R) 
  • Familiarity with biomedical terminology and health interoperability standards 
  • Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with collaboration tools including Atlassian, Jira and Confluence. 

The annual salary range for this position is $115,200.00-$172,800.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
