Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Senior Storage & Backup Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Cloud Services division! This person will work closely with key infrastructure, business partners, vendors and security teams to maintain reliable, secure and efficient enterprise storage, backup and restore capabilities. A successful candidate will have a solid understanding of enterprise backup and general storage technologies as well as automation tools and standard methodologies. This position will provide technical leadership and support to other members of the team.
What will you be doing?
- Support third party vendor backup software and storage hardware, including configuration, upgrades, patches, improvement, etc.
- Solid understanding of cloud based storage & backup technologies
- Apply engineering standard methodologies in-order-to analyze, develop, deploy and support backup and data protection solutions
- Apply automation and scripting solutions to drive towards zero-touch infrastructure management
- Act as a technical advisor and domain specialist for internal partners
- Closely follow industry trends relevant to your domain and understand how to apply them to your work as appropriate
- Participate in on-call rotation with other engineering and support team members
- Able to move between diverse tasks and roles with cooperation and persistence, helping to bring out the best in those around you for your user’s experience

- Develop, maintain and fulfill disaster recovery / redundancy strategies

- Partnering with vendors and enterprise teams on emerging best strategies, patterns and technology

- Ability to solve complex technical issues and enable/teach peers to be self sufficient
- Establish and maintain efficient strategies as it relates to compliance, security, privacy and legal requirements
- Anticipate deviations from standard practices and find practical ways to move forward
- Break down complex problems into smaller, more manageable ones, and help others to do the same
- Understand what tools are available and useful for your domain, how they work, and the sorts of situations and problems for which they're useful. Use them effectively and teach them to your teammates.

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 4-5 years professional experience
5 years of proven experience in the following:
- Professional IT
- At least one OS/hosting platform
- Performance tuning of application stacks
- Virtualization and containerization
- Scripting development
- Networking knowledge
- Monitoring and performance management of systems
- One of the following (AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, Windows) administration and configuration
3 years of proven experience in the following:
- Cloud based PaaS and SaaS. platforms and integration points to On Prem infrastructure
- Identity Platform and tools
- Modern development and scripting languages.
- CICD concepts, and tools, branching strategies and maximizing knowledge to assist in delivering an infrastructure as a product
- Excellent troubleshooting skills within area of expertise, and solid troubleshooting in adjacent domains
- Solid understanding of traditional or cloud computing technologies including Networking, Compute, Storage, Development, Data, Operations, or Security
- Experience with multiple delivery methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
