Please note that this role does not focus on front-office investment risk. 

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management, the Senior Analyst, Enterprise Risk Management performs a wide range of duties in support of the overall goals of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The Senior Analyst supports the ERM program’s efficient and effective identification, analysis, and monitoring of enterprise risks, and analyzes data to report risk specific insights to the Senior Manager.

The Senior Analyst will also support the continuous improvement of the ERM program by creating practical tools and templates, as well as supporting the crisis management and corporate insurance programs.

WHAT YOU BRING

MUST HAVE:

  • 4+ years working in a professional environment, including prior experience with non-investment risk management or business analysis teams.

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Risk or another related field

  • The ability to balance a demanding workload effectively and proactively with competing priorities with a high degree of accuracy to meet deadlines and overall delivery of goals

  • The skills to efficiently establish and maintain effective relationships across all business units and with external parties

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and tactfully, both verbally and in writing

  • Proficiency with general Microsoft Office software and creating visual presentations for various stakeholder groups

PREFERRED:

  • A relevant professional certification, such as the CRM, FRM, or CPA,

  • Knowledge of corporate insurance and crisis/resiliency

  • Experience delivering enterprise projects

  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Corporate Risk & Audit (CR&A) department is responsible for providing analysis and insight on BCI’s risk exposures, governance, and control practices. Comprised of three branches – Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Controls, and Internal Audit – this department helps BCI understand and monitor the key risks that could impact our objectives, advises management on potential mitigation strategies, and provides assurance on the ongoing effectiveness of controls.

The Enterprise Risk Management team helps support better decision-making by analyzing and communicating information on BCI’s non-investment risks and their potential impact on corporate objectives. 

WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO

  • Researches, collects and organizes information from a variety of internal and external sources to facilitate risk identification, analysis, and monitoring

  • Supports ERM reporting; including the collection, assessment, and analysis of information for the BCI Board, Enterprise Risk Management Committee, and other stakeholders

  • Analyzes risk metrics data to report on trends, variances to tolerance, and other insights

  • Performs root cause analysis on risk incidents, and identifies key learnings and improvement opportunities

  • Helps coordinate and support assessments of prioritized risks, and other key ERM activities

  • Manages and maintains key ERM tools and information repositories

  • Evaluates and improves risk management methodologies that will contribute to the ERM Branch’s operational efficiency

  • Supports the corporate insurance program and crisis management program

WHERE YOU WILL WORK

Work from our downtown Victoria office. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1-day a week.

SALARY RANGE

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.

The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $87,000-$105,000.

The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.

We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
