Duties & Responsibilities
Manage workers' compensation claims from start to finish, including reporting, investigating, and tracking claims
- Serve as the main point of contact for associates regarding workers' compensation issues, providing guidance and support throughout the claims process
- Collaborate with HR, supervisors, and injured associates to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all workplace injuries and illnesses
- Liaise with insurance providers, legal professionals, and healthcare providers to facilitate the timely processing of claims and effective communication between all parties involved
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies
- Coordinate and schedule medical appointments, evaluations, and treatments for injured associates as necessary
- Monitor the progress of injured associates' recovery and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders, including HR, supervisors, and insurance providers
- Documents telephone conversations, witness statements, medical reports, and accident investigation results
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of workers' compensation claims data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement
- Stay current with changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance and recommend policy or procedure changes as needed
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws, regulations, and processes
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to both associates and stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously and to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills to assess and determine the validity of workers' compensation claims
- Proficiency in using computer software (Excel, MS Word, Outlook) and databases to track and report on claims
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with various stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field
- Previous experience in workers' compensation claims, administration or a related role preferred
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local workers' compensation laws and regulations
- Certification in workers' compensation administration, OSHA or a related field is a plus
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare processes related to workers' compensation claims
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize and provide support to injured associates
- Experience working with insurance providers, legal professionals, and healthcare providers related to workers' compensation claims
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
