Position Overview

City Year Tulsa is seeking a Data Analyst with experience and/or interest in social impact innovation to join our team, reporting to the Senior Director of Data Strategy and Analytics. The Data Analyst will be collaborative and a critical thinker who enjoys solving complex problems. The Data Analyst collaborates across multiple teams to manage the organization's data stack and tools, analyze complex data sets, identify trends and evidence for informed decision-making, visualize and share insights with site leadership and peers. The Data Analyst will contribute to a data culture that supports powerful service delivery, empowers program teams, and drives positive student, school, and community outcomes. The ideal candidate is looking to grow their skillsets in data engineering, machine learning and predictive analytics, strategy, and demonstrates a desire to grow their leadership abilities. Job Description

Responsibilities 

 

  • Develop and maintain data warehouse and other key data sources, build scripts and models that build a flexible, scalable, and robust data evaluation process 

  • Create and maintain appropriate data structures that support efficient and sustainable reporting and insight generation; ensure rigor, accuracy, and consistency of data processing, documentation, reporting 

  • Work closely with internal data team members and partners to understand and maintain focus on the organization’s analytical needs, including identifying relevant questions, metrics, and insights 

  • Proactively explore and analyze data using a variety of tools and methods to answer key questions related to program performance and opportunities 

  • Prepare differentiated analyses and visualizations to engage multiple audiences, communicate compelling results and outcomes that are accessible and understandable 

  • Support program data operations by developing self-serve data tools and dashboards 

  • Other tasks as required, including participation in full-site events and service projects.  

 

 

Knowledge, Experience, Skill Requirements 

   

  • Strong working knowledge of effective and efficient data structures, data pipelines, and cloud-based data warehouses such as Google BigQuery 

  • Prior experience with data management, data analysis, and modeling 

  • Practical experience in statistical analysis using tools such as R, SPSS, SAS 

  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages SQL, R, Python 

  • Working knowledge of visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau 

  • Ability to identify opportunities for data collection and analysis in alignment with organization’s priorities 

  • Ability to understand and communicate complex (sometimes technical) concepts with simplicity; ability to navigate through layers of ambiguity, think abstractly, and solve complex problems 

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative teams and dynamic environment; ability to take initiative, define and manage multiple projects/workstreams in collaboration with stakeholders 

  • Ability to self-direct, take initiative, work and learn independently, while also enthusiastically partnering with cross-disciplinary teams 

  • Minimum 2-4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative sciences such as economics, statistics, computer science, public health or related fields such as urban studies, sociology, public policy preferred
