Position Overview

Yahoo is looking for a product communications manager to work across Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Search, and other exciting new areas within the Yahoo Home Ecosystem group. This individual will sit within the communications team and will be responsible for leading related initiatives across the Search and Mail areas of business, driving day-to-day strategy mapped to key objectives.

They will play a critical role in shaping the narrative and perception of these properties among key audiences of consumers, advertisers, and partners and driving positive sentiment through earned media. They will be responsible for working with internal and external partners, managing media relations, identifying thought leadership opportunities for key stakeholders, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a leading role within the Yahoo communications team, with a focus on Yahoo Mail and Search 

  • Lead all external communications strategy across Mail and Search as an dedicated partner to those teams 

  • Spearhead communications planning and execution of product launches, partnerships, thought leadership opportunities, and other initiatives to earn media coverage with a focus on consumer, tech, and trade media

  • Provide counsel and support working with cross-functional teams on reactive moments

  • Develop and maintain the overarching narrative, messaging and positioning related to these areas of business 

  • Ensure cross-functional synergies with corporate and internal communications as well as marketing

  • Maintain a deep understanding of technology and media and keep pulse on audience trends and relevant cultural moments 

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in an agency or in-house role 

  • Product communications experience coupled and/or experience in technology communications

  • An understanding and interest in the evolving world of AI, search, email, and media industries 

  • Experience managing  an agency with successful results and/or represented a top consumer or B2B technology company in a cross-functional role

  • Ability to work well under deadlines and managing priorities in a matrixed environment 

  • Experience working with senior executives, engineers, product teams, marketing and business units

  • Strong organizational and writing skills with clear and strategic thinking 

  • Candidates will likely have a BS/BA and may also have an advanced degree in communications

The compensation for this position ranges from $110,625.00 - $230,625.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
