Position Overview

The Planning Manager plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and overseeing strategic planning initiatives within the organization. This position requires strong analytical skills, project management expertise, and the ability to translate strategic vision into actionable plans across multiple business functions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Analysis

  • Develop comprehensive strategic plans aligned with organizational objectives

  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and industry trend assessment

  • Create financial models and forecasts to support planning initiatives

  • Analyze business performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities

Project Management & Execution

  • Lead cross-functional planning projects from conception to completion

  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure plan alignment and execution

  • Establish project timelines, milestones, and deliverables

  • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to meet objectives

Stakeholder Management

  • Present planning recommendations to senior leadership and board members

  • Facilitate planning workshops and strategy sessions

  • Collaborate with department heads to integrate planning across business units

  • Communicate planning updates and progress reports to key stakeholders

Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain planning frameworks, methodologies, and best practices

  • Implement planning tools and systems to enhance efficiency

  • Standardize planning processes across the organization

  • Continuously evaluate and improve planning effectiveness

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • 5-7 years of experience in strategic planning, consulting, or related field

  • Proven track record of successful project management and execution

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with planning software

  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Leadership capabilities and team collaboration skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Strategic thinking with practical execution focus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications (PMP, CFA, etc.)

  • Experience in [specific industry] planning

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance

  • Change management experience

  • Advanced statistical analysis skills
