Job Location:2603 Camino Ramon, Suite 200, San Ramon, CA 94583 (& requires 5% travel to unanticipated client sites in the U.S.)
With a high level of independent decision making authority and minimum supervision, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for the following job duties.
1. Leading the design and development of the Tessell platform’s system using deep knowledge of API and UI development for data management to optimize and evolve our infrastructure reliability, serviceability, and price/performance. The role involves using tools and technologies such as GoLang, Java, Python, Bash, JavaScript, ReactJS, AngularJS, Oracle, and SQL Server, among others. 2. Contributing to the team charter to build and operate a highly scalable and resilient application/database infrastructure. Specifically, the role includes leading initiatives to scale the infrastructure, processes, systems, and automation of Tessell’s proprietary platform.
3. Defining and designing system requirements to meet stakeholder needs. This includes: -Working and building on hyper-converged infrastructure including VMware, and NetApp, and public clouds including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud; -Configuring system features using management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet; -Automating features of our platform for data management. 4. Testing and troubleshooting systems software to resolve complex technical and production issues. The role also encompasses responsibility for the full database development lifecycle management process, preparing necessary technical specifications, coordinating development activity, and tracking the progress of in-flight projects using Git, JIRA, and Jenkins, among others. This position requires 5% travel to unanticipated client sites in the U.S. This position requires a U.S. bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in CS, CE, or closely related field, and five (5) years of progressive professional experience as a SW/Principal Engr, Memb of Tech Staff or related occupation.
