About the Team:
As part of the global Marketing organization, the B2B Enterprise Marketing team is responsible for driving business growth in partnership with the product and sales teams of our enterprise businesses: Dow Jones Newswires, Factiva, and Risk & Compliance. The team runs a client centric approach focused on industries and accounts developing and activating strategies and campaigns that drive awareness, build our reputation and deepen relationships in these select industries and accounts.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping and optimizing the website architecture and codebase of our enterprise web experience (dowjones.com/professional/) alongside the B2B Enterprise Marketing team. You will construct a dynamic, responsive, and user-centric website that propels our strategic business objectives forward. You will spearhead the development and enhancement of our custom WordPress theme and manage plugin updates using PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Additionally, you will lead performance testing, drive code deployments, and analyze site performance to swiftly resolve issues, ensuring a seamless and exceptional site experience.
This role is based in-person in New York, NY, working on-site in our midtown Manhattan office three days a week, reporting to the Director of Web Experience.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Production: Elevate our digital presence by developing and refining a custom WordPress theme and expertly managing plugin updates using PHP, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, Node.js, and JavaScript to ensure top-tier functionality and performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the B2B Enterprise Marketing team to deeply understand strategic goals and craft a website architecture that aligns seamlessly with these objectives. Engage with the Web Team, external vendors and internal stakeholders to build and deploy a scalable, user-centric experience that captivates users.
Performance Enhancement and Quality Control: Execute thorough performance assessments and tests to guarantee website responsiveness and cross-device compatibility. Oversee the launch and troubleshooting of site modifications, ensuring flawless functionality across various breakpoints and browsers while addressing QA issues with popular themes and plugins.
Aspirational Approach: Stay at the forefront of cutting-edge web trends, leveraging your expertise to drive innovation and create transformative online experiences for Dow Jones’ B2B audiences.
Specifically, you should have:
Bachelor's degree in IT, engineering, software development, or related field.
Extensive knowledge of the WordPress platform, including the WP library and best practices.
Minimum 10 years managing large enterprise WordPress codebases.
Experience with Wordpress Gutenberg/block editor functionality.
Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development.
Knowledge of Git and other code versioning tools.
Experience collaborating with web, SEO, social media, and paid media teams.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, manage stakeholders, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Creative mindset, aesthetic skills, including an understanding of screen element arrangements, color, and font choices.
Strong understanding of the latest industry trends and content management systems.
Ability to convert comprehensive layouts and wireframes into working HTML pages.
