Position Summary

The Lead Director will be focused on developing and advancing the Caremark trade business for CVS Health. Leveraging CVS Health’s size and scale, this role will create new opportunities for long-term strategies across the pharmacy landscape, leading ideas while working cross-functionally in a matrixed environment to bring innovative growth initiatives to the forefront. Through key engagements with teams such as clinical, legal, finance, and operations, this role will identify and hone ideas for the enhancement of existing business and creation of net new opportunities, partnerships, and ventures.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Advance existing CVS Health trade partnerships by ensuring alignment with Enterprise Strategy and CVS Health initiatives to enhance profitability, increase access, and reduce cost of goods.
  • Identify and support the evaluation of new potential partnerships, including the analysis of drug therapy, market dynamics, financial impact, profitability, and operational execution.
  • Lead development of new-to-market strategies for drug products across various therapeutic categories, specialty and traditional.
  • Ability to tie key relationships between distribution channels, GPO sourcing, pharmaceutical contracting, and the payer landscape.
  • Guide analysis in unique therapeutic categories and business segments for new white space opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of industry policies, market intelligence, and key regulatory events in order to identify drivers for future success.
  • Analysis of formularies, rebates, drug economics, clinical significance, and market baskets to create strategic ideas and optimize existing business.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively to translate novel strategies to audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Support contract and term creation for new ventures and business models.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8+ years of experience in pharmacy, pharmaceutical contracting and sourcing, pharmacy distribution, or the pharmaceutical industry required.  
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmaceutical industry dynamics at the intersection of regulatory, payers, and health care supply chain.
  • Demonstrated track record of contracting strategies and negotiations, financial arrangement partnership models, and pharmacy regulations and policies.
  • Proven ability to solve complex issues and manage multifaceted business relationships
  • Adept at building consensus with stakeholders with regards to strategy/direction, execution and delivery.
  • Strong mastery of problem solving, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated with a growth mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or Advanced degree preferred
  • Pharmacist or PharmD preferred
  • Strategy consulting experience from a top tier firm

  • Travel as needed

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,500.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
