Northrop Grumman is seeking Mechanical Interns for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Mission Systems Sector in Rolling Meadows, IL.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Navigation, Targeting, & Survivability (NT&S) Division.

 

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

• Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2025.

• Be majoring in or having majored in Mechanical Engineering,  Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree

• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2025
   

• The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs 
   

• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
   

• A current/active DoD Secret clearance
   

• Familiarity, educational background or experience in:

• Siemens NX, Solidworks, Creo, 3D CAD Modeling, Additive Manufacturing, thermal analysis, structural analysis, microelectronics design, opto-mechanical design, environmental testing, ANSYS, ZEMAX, Zuken, Cadence, Hardware IPT Lead, PLM, PDM, Lead, electronics packaging, optics packaging, circuit card, circuit card assembly, FRACAS, DVT, program capture
   

• Demonstrated capability or experience in leading small to moderately sized teams during the product development process
   

• Demonstrated application of innovative solutions to complex problems that arise within the design, development, and production phases Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including experience presenting at design reviews and customer/stakeholder briefings

Intern Pay Range:

• Bachelor's: $24.25-$29.75/hour

• Master's: $35.00-$36.75/hour

Salary Range: $1.00 - $1.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
