Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Research & Technology is seeking to hire a Systems Engineer with a strong background in Manufacturing and/or Production Engineering, reporting to the Manager of Model-based Design for X from any of our offices in Munich, Germany OR Madrid, Spain.

In this position you will contribute to the mission of Boeing’s Digital Engineering (DE) Global Center, a global initiative supporting the digital transformation of Boeing’s engineering. The activities are ranging from conducting R&D projects to providing direct support to Boeing’s engineering functions and programs.

  • As a Systems Engineer you’ll be joining an interdisciplinary team focusing on the development of digital engineering solutions with a strong focus on production system topics.

Position responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in the area of manufacturing/production/industrial engineering, with emphasis on Model Based Engineering (MBE) processes, methods, training and tools.

  • Develop and implement Model-based Engineering solutions for better integration of production and industrial engineering processes and tools within and  outside of the discipline domain, i.e. with other engineering functions such as systems engineering, design engineering, structural analysis, etc., focusing on digital continuity and increased value.

  • Develop and implement new Model-based Engineering solutions for co-development of product and production system and design for manufacturing, analyze and present engineering solutions and results

  • Develop and document novel ideas, file patent applications

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.

  • Participate and potentially lead Agile scrum teams

  • Occasional travel may be required

Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience):

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent or higher degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics or related fields.

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Manufacturing and/or Production or Industrial Engineering in the Aerospace/Automotive industry or similar.

  • Experience in manufacturing and/or production processes.

  • Experience in modeling and simulation of manufacturing, assembly and production processes as well as related analysis (e.g. Variation and Tolerance Analysis, Virtual Assembly, Discrete Event Simulation, CAM, etc.).

  • Fluency in English and good communication, presentation and technical writing skills are a must, experience with Agile methodologies.

  • Must be legally able to work in European Union.        

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with PLM systems (e.g. ENOVIA).

  • Experience applying Systems engineering, Production and/or Industrial Engineering principals in the Aerospace industry.

  • Experience with Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

  • Experience with 3DCS or other Dimensional Engineering software.

  • Experience with Model Based (Systems) Engineering tools, methods and application across product lifecycle (such as MATLAB Simulink, SCADE, MSOSA, Rhapsody, SysML etc.).

  • Understanding of behavioral/functional modeling of systems and/or production systems.

  • Background in scripting/coding and experience with a programming language (MATLAB, Python, Java, or similar).

  • Experience in design engineering and structural analysis tools and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in Research and Physical Reasoning.

  • Previous experience working in multicultural environments will be very useful.

  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated technical judgment and initiative.

  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally.

Typical Education:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
