The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for the detailed analysis and management of investment portfolios. This role involves monitoring portfolio performance, conducting market research, and analyzing financial data to make informed investment decisions. The analyst also prepares reports for stakeholders, provides recommendations based on risk assessments, and collaborates with portfolio managers to optimize investment strategies. Additionally, the Portfolio Analyst ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and stays updated on market trends to adjust strategies as necessary.

  • Respond promptly to all borrower inquiries and requests for the assigned portfolio of loans.
  • Investigate and resolve payment issues, including suspense payments.
  • Collaborate with the Cash Managed Loans Group to administer hard lockbox waterfall processing.
  • Timely return of monthly excess funds from lockbox, sweep, and ground lease payments, including rent/mortgage overages.
  • Initiate collection calls to follow up on delinquent financial statements.
  • Monitor and follow up on deferred maintenance items.
  • Review loan documents and financial statements, ensuring borrower compliance with loan requirements and timeliness in meeting milestones of the underwritten business plan.
  • Prepare quarterly asset summaries, surveillance reports, and other required deliverables for lender use.
  • Review future funding draw requisitions and prepare recommendation packages for the lender, including review of contracts, invoices, and construction budget balancing.
  • Provide detailed referral requests to other servicing departments for transactions requiring lender consent, such as easements and casualty losses.
  • Consult with management and other Berkadia personnel as necessary, ensuring completion of borrower requests and inquiries.
  • Manage and escalate complex issues that may require higher-level decision-making within Berkadia or consent from external parties.
  • Monitor portfolio-specific reports and adhere to Berkadia policies and procedures for processing open items or issues.
  • Develop personal technical skills by completing appropriate training courses and meeting the annual required training hour minimum.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a real estate, business, or finance concentration or at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with mortgage industry-specific applications like McCracken Strategy and intranet-based workflows.
  • Strong customer service orientation within a risk management/asset management context, coupled with excellent communication skills for clear and succinct verbal and written interactions across all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a keen attention to detail and the ability to analyze property operating statements and rent rolls to evaluate asset performance.
  • Proactive and autonomous work ethic with the ability to manage conflicting stakeholder expectations and priorities, while effectively escalating issues and collaborating on shared responsibilities.
