In this pivotal and high-impact role, you'll play a crucial part in shaping the future of our global investment landscape and driving transformative change. As the Director, you'll be the linchpin connecting our SLC Portfolio Management, SLC Front Office/Finance, and Client (Sun Life) ALM & Risk Management teams. You will gain unparalleled insights into how SLC's entire product suite, including all asset classes and investment solutions offered (public fixed income, private fixed income, alternative fixed income/high yield, structured products, real estate and infrastructure equity, derivatives, etc.) seamlessly complement and elevate Sun Life's risk- and capital- adjusted return profile. Additionally, you will gain a profound understanding of the philosophy and business practices for Client (Sun Life) ALM, Capital and Risk Management functions, positioning you as a true investment authority.
You'll have the unique opportunity to deeply understand our Client and see how a variety of cutting-edge investment solutions offered by SLC Management (SLC Fixed Income, BentallGreenOak, Crescent, InfraRed) add value and drive sustainable growth.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Liquidity Management and Reporting: You will spearhead the management of critical processes, including derivative collateral, pledging compliance, credit derivative usage, repo/reverse repo/securities lending program usage, and global cash management, ensuring seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams and flawless execution.
Business Analytics and Reporting: You will lead the development and enhancement of client portfolio-wide value-add business analytics, leveraging in-house tools to support daily portfolio management decision making and deliver exceptional client deliverables.
Investment Strategy and Optimization: You will serve as a trusted advisor, providing unparalleled investment expertise and visionary strategic guidance to assist in investment strategy reviews across Sun Life's business groups (across non-Par/Par Insurance Contracts, Investment Contracts, Surplus), ensuring alignment with SLC's cutting-edge capabilities and resources. You will ensure a consistent, best-in-class (customized for Sun Life) optimization approach is used across all portfolios and ensure asset allocation changes are actionable. You will also help coordinate and communicate impactful, industry-leading trading initiatives and programs.
Surplus and General Portfolio Management: You will help coordinate discussions and ensure seamless alignment on centralized surplus investment strategies, driving unparalleled consistency in decision-making and actions across Sun Life's legal entities. Tactically, you will help monitor portfolio positioning among key downstream surplus stakeholders, ensuring optimal performance.

You will monitor FVOCI (AFS) gains globally, Expected Investment Earnings/Unrealized Trading Gains, and credit experience, and ensure clear communication of variance versus Investment Plan to senior SLC Leaders.
Other Responsibilities: Manage key Portfolio Management activities related to the Canada Mortgage Bond securitization program, participate in various ad-hoc and strategic projects, and mentor and develop junior SLC resources, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and excellence.
