Sr Healthcare Data Architect (EHR Experience Required)


 

What you will be doing:

The Healthcare Data Architect is accountable for transforming customers’ source system data into the Premier Ingest Data Spec for landing into the Insights data warehouse to enable robust analytics capabilities within Premier product suite.  This position has a strong understanding of healthcare data across a spectrum of domains including:  technical and professional billing, pre- and post-adjudicated claims, revenue cycle / patient accounting / accounts receivable, EHR data to support clinical quality measures and/or population health management, ancillary support systems (lab, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, OR, ED, etc.), HIS / patient registration scheduling and authorization.  The healthcare data architect has knowledge of healthcare workflows and how those workflows impact the way data are stored in customer source systems. This position is the “trusted advisor” for the specific source system knowledge.  This position is responsible for collaborating directly with customer IT, customer data architects, and business stakeholders to thoroughly understand the customer data and how to properly populate the data into the warehouse to meet customer use case analytics.  This person will interface with the Sr. Healthcare Data Architect and members as well as other architects and members of the following teams – Data Modeling, Data Acquisition, Development, Product Management, and Member Operations.  In addition, this position will work to develop and continuously improve the adapter development, data validation, and delivery methodology.  The position is responsible for communicating with customers and Premier team members to make sure that we understand customer needs, deliver appropriate technical solutions, and manage customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Data Mapping – 50%

  • Ensure all data elements required for PIDS are collected and data mappings are accurate based on member definitions of each data field. Obtain member sign off of data mappings.

  • Understand how the data flows through the member system and document any nuisances that will need to be coded for the member implementation

  • Serve in the capacity of technical and data knowledge subject matter expert for internal staff

  • Be the trusted expert on the member organizational /entity management structure for data acquisition

  • Consult with customers on data mapping analysis and issue resolution

  • Work directly with Data development and product management to complete the adapter build to properly land, store, and warehouse customer data for downstream consumption by various products

  • Follow defined standards used to populate different customer and source system data into single target data model

  • Analyze customers’ raw source system data to understand intricacies and any limitations in mapping the data to the warehouse – considering downstream ETL transformation logic within the data acquisition process.

  • Completes data mapping template to populate the standard input format used for the transformation customer source system data for data storage and product consumption

  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to drive higher quality and productivity within data analysis and mapping (e.g. process changes, tools, operating mechanisms)

Project and Organization Collaboration – 10%

  • Works with Technical Account Manager to profile and analyze data to help define statement of work for new adapter projects

  • Work with member IT and business stakeholders

  • Works with Technical Account Manager to ensure information model mapping status and risks/issues are communicated appropriately

  • Works with Development and product management on data structures

Issue Resolution– 20%

  • Investigate and troubleshoot complex customer source system data problems/issues and assist in recommending solution for handling customer data integrity issues

Quality Assurance - 20%

  • Perform quality assurance on the custom transformation logic to populate the PIDS for ingestion by Premier products

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 4 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)


 

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency SQL -queries

  • Experience creating source to target data mapping

  • Must possess exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and challenges in a hands-on environment

  • Ability to grasp workflow of data within members’ configured clinical information and decision support systems, including their varied complexities; requires clinical and technical tasks to be completed in coordination with the member

  • Project Management/Time Management

  • Excellent Member facing communication skills

  • Knowledge of existing and emerging healthcare analytics trends and aptitude for learning new technical skills and source systems quickly.

Experience:

  • Experience working with at least one of the following data domains: technical and professional billing, pre and post adjudicated claims, revenue cycle/patient accounting/accounts receivable, EHR data to support clinical quality measures and/or population health management, ancillary support systems (lab, pharmacy, radiology, OR, ED, etc.), HIS/patient registration scheduling and authorization

  • 10+ years of EMR source system data architecture experience

Education:

  • Bachelors Preferred

Working Conditions: Remote


 

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $99,000 - $185,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
