Cloud and DevOps Engineer, GCC, India

Reporting to the Cloud Planning, Infrastructure and Cloud Services (ICS) leadership, Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design and build of public cloud storage, compute, database, network platform services and orchestration. The scope of the role requires broad knowledge of multiple infrastructure technologies including storage, database, network, monitoring, identity, access management, CI/CD, orchestration and automaton. This is one of the key roles for the successful delivery of the Enterprise Cloud as A service. The role holder will work with domain specific principal engineers on the overall design and build of Assurant enterprise public cloud as a service.

This position will be Remote at our India location.  

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Design, Engineer, Define and Build patterns and Catalog of Enterprise Cloud Storage -75%

• Cloud compute, network, database and storage, CI/CD, Orchestration platform engineering designs within Public Cloud and connectivity to cloud.
• Works with principal cloud engineers to design and maintain cloud infrastructure designs, catalog of the public cloud services across network, compute, database, orchestration, observability security and compliance components. The cloud platform design will leverage cloud native and agnostic capabilities.
• Works with DevOps teams on features for catalog services through design sessions and MVP releases delivering holistic solutions that include lifecycle management, observability, and other enterprise features.
• Works with Information Security and network engineers to ensure public cloud infrastructure patterns are aligned to enterprise security requirements and policies. 
• Co-owns the detailed design patterns for network, compute, storage, database, automaton and orchestration services, i.e. works with cross-functional teams of ICS engineers. 
• Ensures all cloud infrastructure engineering patterns are designed with appropriate level of proactive monitoring, resilience and dynamic failover to meet internal and client SLA requirements.  
• Works with the cloud operations team to ensure the smooth transition of cloud services and patterns into production. 

Stakeholder Engagement and Public Cloud Automation Roadmap Adoption – 25%

• Actively perform research to remain up to date around new public cloud infrastructure capabilities, and how these align to Assurant Enterprise Cloud strategy and opportunities.  
• Works with enterprise architecture, principal cloud and security engineers and business unit IT teams to understand the future needs around new public cloud automation and integration.
• Ensures new engineered cloud infrastructure capabilities to meet all cost, reliability and scale requirements.

What are the requirements needed for this position? 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or Computer Science
• 3+ years of experience in infrastructure services with experience in multiple disciplines and automation specially in large public and private cloud environments
• 2+ years’ experience in design or build, of orchestration, automation solutions, i.e., private and public cloud services incorporating security and compliance.
• Enterprise Experience in design and delivery of infrastructure services as ‘Infrastructure as a code’.
• Experience working in large environments delivering highly available solutions with accompanying automation.
• Experience of working in newly established organizations following Agile practices  
• Experience of developing infrastructure as code and working in DevOps practices.
• Experience working within a large organization with resource locally and remote including international.
