Position Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer I on our Orders & Subscription Management team, you'll play a key role in building and refining the systems that support critical functions of Pax8’s commerce platform. You’ll be at the heart of enabling our pre-checkout features, ensuring seamless billing, and maintaining order management for our partners. By tackling complex problems with innovative technology, you’ll be driving the functionality that powers our subscription and order workflows. Your contributions will directly impact our core services and help businesses thrive by ensuring smooth and reliable experiences for end users.

Every day, you’ll dive into backend development with technologies like Kotlin and Java. You'll design, develop, test, and deploy solutions for order and subscription management, collaborating closely with other engineering teams to ensure high-quality code and architecture. Your work will involve Kafka streaming to manage orders and subscriptions for billing, ensuring the integrity of core services. You’ll also conduct design and code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide technical leadership in the creation of new features. In addition to delivering individual projects, you’ll help shape technical plans and guide long-term strategies that span over a year for complex initiatives.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need to have strong experience with backend development in languages like Kotlin and Java. Familiarity with Kafka streaming is essential, as this will be a core part of managing orders and subscriptions. Experience with Groovy is a nice-to-have but not required. You should be comfortable designing and implementing complex features independently, navigating technical risks, and making high-impact decisions. Collaboration is key, and you'll need to work closely with cross-functional teams while mentoring other engineers. The ability to create detailed technical plans, set testing philosophies, and meet deadlines for high-impact projects will be critical to your success.
