As a Strategy & Corporate Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic direction of our company. You will be responsible for collaborating with Monotype’s senior executives and business leaders in identifying growth opportunities, conducting market analyses, and developing strategies to support the company’s growth as a leader in the Type industry. You will also play a critical role in expanding Monotype’s library and value proposition for its customers as the company continues to be acquisitive (5 – 10 add on acquisitions executed in the last 12 months with strong pipeline of opportunities). This work will include relationship building activities with key targets, thesis development, financial modeling, due diligence, management of third-party advisors, deal negotiation and execution. Example project areas include: acquisition evaluation, new and existing market analysis, white space opportunity sizing, business model analysis, and competitive analysis.
What you’ll be doing:
Corporate Strategy (~70% of total time)
Develop an understanding of Monotype’s product portfolio, strategic priorities, competitive positioning, gaps, and potential opportunities to enable regular strategy updates to senior leadership and our Private Equity sponsor.
Assist in the development and refinement of the company’s strategic plan and business priorities in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
Generate business insights and develop strategy and business cases based on competitive analysis, modeling, forecasting, market trends and industry knowledge to inform strategic decision making.
Facilitate communication and alignment across teams to drive cohesive execution of strategic plans.
Corporate Development (~30% of total time)
Partner with business leaders on acquisition strategy development, including identifying product gaps, evaluating build/buy/partner options, and collaborating on target selection criteria.
Support relationship building activities with founders, partnering closely with our Foundry Partnerships team to build specific engagement strategies across the competitive landscape.
Support transaction execution process through financial modeling, due diligence, negotiation, and execution, in partnership with our M&A legal counsel.
Work with senior executives to explore business issues related to M&A activity, including measurement of M&A success, formalizing M&A strategies, and maturing our pipeline sourcing efforts.
Support our Business Operations team on post close integration activities, including synergy tracking and reporting, remediation efforts identified during due diligence, and execution of post-close deliverables.
What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of work experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, strategic finance, investment banking or related fields, with demonstrated expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and business case development. Focus on enterprise software / SaaS preferred.
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize insights to drive alignment and outcomes.
Big picture thinking, intellectual curiosity, and experience working with leaders and cross functional groups.
Polished and well developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt approach to a range of personalities and backgrounds.
Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to self-direct and manage multiple priorities and workstreams concurrently.
