Roofer

Rotherham – Newyork way

£32,313.83 per Annum plus company van and fuel card

Full time - Permanent – 37 hrs per week

Mon- Thurs 8am - 16:00,  Friday 8am - 15:30

About the role:

This role involves performing a variety of roofing and maintenance tasks, including roofing repairs, flat roofing renewals, and the maintenance of guttering and facers. The successful candidate will possess a certified core trade, ensuring that all repair and refurbishment work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures. They will take ownership of construction, fault finding, and maintenance repairs, aiming for first-time completion while adhering to budget and time constraints. A professional demeanour is essential, with an emphasis on effective communication with service users, clients, and stakeholders, as well as maintaining a neat appearance, proper company identification, and well-maintained vehicles. Health and safety protocols must be strictly followed, and customer feedback may be required upon completion of works.

The role also requires the use of a handheld device (PDA) to electronically process all activities related to tasks and works, including worksheets, timesheets, photographic evidence of works before, during, and after completion, van stock replenishment, booking of annual leave, vehicle inspections, safeguarding issues, risk assessments, and method statements. Company assets must be kept in good condition, and any damages should be reported to the Supervisor or Manager. The candidate will need to utilize existing stock or collect materials as needed to meet work order requirements, following standard operating procedures for purchasing and van stock control compliance. Attendance at informal and formal meetings and training sessions is required, and participation in call-out cover may be necessary to ensure contract compliance and service user satisfaction for emergency repairs.

Key Criteria:

  • Certified Core Trade: Essential for performing high-quality repair and refurbishment work.
  • Roofing Skills: Ability to lay hot roof felt and work with EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) roofing systems.
  • Joinery Skills: Experience in boarding flat roofs.
  • Guttering and Fascia: Proficiency in renewing soffits, fascias, and guttering.
  • Health and Safety: Strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Customer Feedback: Ability to obtain and process customer feedback upon completion of works.
  • Electronic Processing: Proficiency in using a handheld device (PDA) for documenting work, managing stock, and other administrative tasks.
  • Asset Management: Maintaining company assets in good condition and reporting any damages.
  • Material Management: Efficient use of existing stock and procurement of materials as needed.
  • Emergency Repairs: Availability for call-outs to ensure contract compliance and service user satisfaction.
  • Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is required.
