Coordinator, New Student Programs

Advances enrollment goals for the University by serving students during their transition to Tarleton State University. The Coordinator will gain event management experience by serving in a support role for programs like Texan Orientation and Duck Camp. Under direction, the Coordinator will lead programming efforts for Transition Week, Transfer Orientation initiatives, and Texan Camp. This Coordinator will also support incoming students by championing the needs of other special populations like online learners, student athletes, and Spanish-speaking families. Reports to the Director of New Student Programs. Normal work hours are Monday to Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, modified hours and/or work on weekends during event season(s).

Essential Duties:

• 30% Assist with departmental programming. Under direction, assist the department with the preparation and execution of large-scale New Student Programs like Texan Orientation, Duck Camp, and Transition Week for the traditional freshman population. This can include office coverage, phone coverage, day-of program duties, and general assistance to staff colleagues at the discretion of the Director.

• 30% Transfer Student Programming. Serve as liaison and primary advocate for intentional year-round support efforts of new transfer students on the Stephenville campus. Primary responsibility for Texan Camp, Transition Week’s Transfer Track, and spring transfer programming. Continually assesses departmental transfer initiatives to meet the needs of our transfer student population.

• 30% Transition support for special populations. Creatively address needs for Online Orientation alternatives for populations like spring admits, distance learners, and students who cannot attend traditional Orientation due to unique circumstances. Serve as departmental liaison to campus partners for a growing slate of resources for Spanish-speaking families attending Texan Orientation. Serve as a resource to coaches and administrators within Tarleton’s Division 1 athletics programs and encourage athlete involvement in transition experiences. The Coordinator will also work collaboratively to lend relevant expertise to partners at our Fort Worth Campus and other outreach locations.

• 10% Performs other duties as assigned to support New Student Programs, Prospective Student Engagement, and the Division of Enrollment Management.

Required Education and Experience:

  • ​Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience

Preferred Education and Experience (not required to be qualified):

• Master’s Degree

• Two years’ experience with any combination of event planning, hospitality, and/or serving students face-to-face in a college setting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Salary: 

Commensurate with experience  

 

The target base annual salary is $45,000 may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
